  1. Run the idle from 1,200 to 800 and deal with it. You run your a/c with the hotter cam in a high temp climate. That seems simple to me, am I missing some important detail?
  2. That's too funny Greg! I remember when my friends were buying aircraft batteries for $200 or $300 to save weight on their boats. Quit eating a loaf of bread everyday, I said.
  3. This is hilarious, looks like one of POTUS's Tweets. New head in the Nissan box with all new aftermarket cam and valve train.
  4. From what you've written you should have bought a 240 and saved yourself a lot of time and work. Sell your time capsule 280 before you go too far, make some money and buy a earlier car. http://datsunzgarage.com/engine/
  5. If I've already ask, I'm sorry but are those the black satin rewinds from msa? Not too long after I bought graphite they came up with those. I like them. They look real good on your silver car. Thanks. Cliff
  6. I have 15x7 Rewinds, 0 offset, with 205/50s on my orange car. They fit without rubbing and keep the same stance as the originals, under the fenders and low.
  7. What size are the tires on your slots? I'm away from home now and that's where the tires are but they rubbed too. I'll post the size as soon as I can. EDIT: 185/75x14 was the tire size that rubbed. This is the only picture I have before putting the OE wheels and tires on.
  8. I ran 20/50 castrol for years in my daily car. It gets hot down here. Now I've gone to 10w-30 in EVERYTHING. Keeps it simple now that I have all this old junk.
  9. 205/50x15 is what I have, sorry. The 16s are just a little too big for me, they look odd in my opinion. Remember Stompers? Hankook Ventus now but these Dunlop Direzzas next. https://www.discounttiredirect.com/fitmentresult/tires/size/205-50-15
  10. Did the timing ever get set after the cam change?
  11. I'd love to buy these but they no longer exist either. http://www.redline360.com/tokico-hpk-shocks-springs-kit-nissan-240z-260z-HPK251
  12. Do you think the cam was set up right by the builder, I don't. It would be nice to see the valve train's wipe patterns. Then to know what the cam's spec card calls for on valves settings. All those rabbit holes he's "logically" gone down.
  13. Yes, your car looks great! What size wheels are those?
  14. With stock struts and springs the 16" look good on my 280 but not the 240 which has 15" wheels. The 15s keep the low roof height and the speedo a lot closer to accurate without buying new lower suspension. I have 50s on the 15" & 55s on the 16" without rubbing and stock ride height.
  15. My 240 ran fairly good with low float bowls, you could have basic problems and think it's all fuel related. California Datsun is known for selling bad motors and that's what you have. He won't satisfy his American customers I can only imagine what he thinks when someone from another country buys from him?
  16. Has this car ever ran right? I can't remember hearing that from the owner and I've been on here since 2011.
  17. Here's what I went by and they work fine without modifying anything. Read down to tire sizing, middle of the page. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic05a02/25-1149
  18. I ended up keeping the '77 rear bumper and just run the front 240 bumper. Looks pretty good and have the extra protection back there.
  19. Here's a good shot of one. Thanks to @Kevin McSweeney
  20. Changing valve seals with the head on. You may find something useful reading this.
  21. Seems like the rounded bottom allows the key to be tilted towards what is being slid over it. Once the part is in place the key would sit level.
  22. Won't the damper slide over that and hold it in place?
  23. I've come to realize you have a twitching trigger finger. I'm gonna call you Josey Wales. 8^) CONGRATULATIONS Steve! Makes me happy when somebody buys themselves a nice gift. Can't wait to read a d see this. Cliff
  24. That's a really nice car. If the interior is as nice as the exterior, good dash with no cracks I'd say a high of $10,000? Good deal at $8,000? Just guessing out loud. Google classic car value guide. Look for, never mind here it is https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools
