  1. electronic ignition. hmmm..... no spark at the plugs.
  2. I always just turn the wheel all the way without taking them off and unscrew the headlights seeing with my sense of touch.
  3. I have a freind with a 78 280z parting out. I don't know if that is the same distributor in the NA zx.
  4. I just checked them and the links have continuity(spelling) car cranks but won't turn over. Hmm....I don't think i have the correct fusible links they look rigged and they are pretty thick I hope these links are not jumper wires(gulp) left over from another owner. the car was running fine before the fuel pump incident. do these look right? http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/3040engine_bay-med.JPG
  5. I was stupid with too much money in my hands at the wrong time I not only bought the wires but i bought the jethot coated headers and exhaust with MSA.( income tax return was cool.) Then after hanging out here i learned alot about the Z car. Heck when i first joined i thought if you didn't see any rust on a car that it was rust free. (oh..its just got a little rust under the capets, nothing major. no one will see it)I posted underinformed questions like how do i get 300hp out of my L24 and stuff like that. You guys taught me alot in a short time. The most important things i learned were how to identify rust problems and to stop looking to the L24 for performance..........(geez i was gonna put triples on that thing without any internal mods)..... Now i am looking to an IC'd L28et. Then when I get a real job give the 280z to my brother and get me a modified & redone 240z.
  6. (This is about a 78 280z.) My fuel pump went. I tested it to see if i could hear it run in the on position. I couldn't hear it run so i went to buy another one at a store 25miles away, I left the ignition on and now the car gets no spark. Has anyone had this prob before? Now my car won't start. I thought it was the ignition module, i found one swaped it and it still won't start. I think it is the pickup coil but i am not sure. i have spark from the coil but not the plugs I am stumped but out of time today and tommorrow i will try to replace the pickup coil.:cross-eye :
  7. I use those nology capacitive wires. I guess they are cool. I did see improvement but not worth what i paid for them.
  8. want fast? Here is fast>>.. http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26820
  9. Thank you for that list....tommorow i will go through it. :classic:
  10. eeeeesh....... don't know what to say so i guess that is what i will say. Well you could send those parts to me and tell them to buy you new ones:bandit:
  11. i can't get my78 280z to stop fouling the plugs. The injectors weren't getting pulse and i replaced the ECU. (thought that would solve probs)It had electrical woes not engine related(i think) but i am out of ideas. What are the common causes of carbon fouling on the plugs. It seems to be running rich but what do i know. Could it be the ignition module? Is that common? I just need a place to start over with.
  12. consider me schooled..... still looks cool!
  13. Ah ha.....an early z with skyline wheels!! Eat your heart out Proxlamus.
  14. and another..... i think it looks pretty good on a zx Imho...
  15. here is another pic i found....
  16. Turbo L28et........perfect combo of fast for cheap.
  17. Not a real good pic but it is all i have left...
  18. The 5-speed is common in a 78, If it is not an auto then it will be a 5speed. You have an R200 3.545 ratio if it is stock. There is a difference in the zx and Z tranny. check this out.....http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/
  19. Z's can look intimidating to someone who knows nothing about them. It's probably better that you don't race until you make sure the car is in optimum running condition. The looks of the Z speak for itself anyway. See he was scared of your car without knowing anything about it. Just because you called him on his bluff i'm sure his friends now may be scared of your car too just because you offered to race him. Funny.
  20. I've had fustrations with them too, but they took good care of everything promptly, I am just glad they are there. Another Z specific source for parts is never bad. Overall I am more than satisfied with thier service.
  21. If you got the cash there is always Harry Frigs car. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8530 You will get what you pay for I'm sure though.
