Yeah I don't think I would be happy about getting a head that looked like that...just really hard to get all that grit off it with out disassembly. C

Ah fire and explosions... once burned my eyebrows off with a homemade device. Made from fireworks, wouldn't light. Blew on it a little... It lit... Charles
  3. ABSOLUTELY! I have bought used JDM taillights out of Australia for that. For yellow turn signals I would absolutely give that! The last set of NOS JDM taillights I think were $1800. So I think $400 is a deal! If it's not your cup of tea, so be it. Many Z owners though love the look of the JDM taillights and as for safer, Americans are use to yellow turn signals so this is probably a step in the right direction too. Charles

My vote would be no on the fuel cell but I am just guessing. The hit didn't look that hard but near the stock filler neck... C

What year and model of Z? C

    Ahhhhhhh... the memories of floating...
  7. My biggest tip on welding is use a good welder. I had a cheap 100 amp welder and my buddy said it looked like a drunk monkey had made the welds. Bought a good 210 amp 220v welder and it is much easier. An hour or two of practice and I can lay down a decent bead... Charles

Chas Love the drawings. That man has training... Charles
  9. 240ziggy A tip for the floorboards. When I did mine I made a cardboard template of the basically flat area of the floor. I transferred that to the new floor plan. Cut slots in from the edge about 1 1/2" apart up to the scribed line. I then bent these with a hammer and dolly. That gives a nice rounded transition to the tunnel and follows the original floor lines. Welded it all up. Done basically the same way you did it but with more sections to make it easier to shape. 10. Not to highjack, but Jeff how does the surge tank help pull all the fuel out of the tank? Charles

I was doing some Googling on English wheels and came across this. I would love to fabricate some metal fender flares like this. I like the original shape of the quarters but I would like to see them exaggerated more to give more overall flare. I don't like the shape of many of the aftermarket fiberglass flares. They seem to conflict with the original lines. These videos show what I'm talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=491K3bqJ_9M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8K7RLT6BJY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od9QeWsor6E Enjoy. Really cool what you can turn a flat piece of 20 gauge into... Charles

Many times the booster dies because brake fluid leaks from the rear of the master cylinder into the booster. The fluid destroys the rubber diaphragm in the booster so it no longer holds vacuum. The diaphragms are basically not available. Booster rebuild companies don't want to sell just a few and wholesalers I've found want a 1500 minimum order... Charles
  13. Keep in mind if you get a used one, be sure you can get the old strut out. I have sold some in the past and have pulled the struts to make them lighter to ship. I had one I could not get the strut out even chained between 2 trees with a come-a-long pulling and heat. They can get very corroded in there. Charles
  14. If you have a hard time finding some, send me a PM and I will look thru the shop. I probably have an extra set... Charles

Steve would be my first choice for anything. He is a perfectionist. His parts are very well made and to very high standards. Charles
  16. For starters I would think the spacer limits heat transfer to the fuel pump ie. the fuel. Also the further down the pump arm the eccentric runs the more leverage it has so the greater volume it should pump... Charles
  17. 8k ???? for WHAT? C
  18. My comment was not to use the ones you removed (I assumed they were toast) but to get supports from a donor car and weld them back in... C
  19. Why don't you just get the original ones and weld them back on? C
  20. The car should be fuel injected. It was from the factory, but they do get converted sometimes... Charles

I am operating from memory, which is suspect, but it was my understanding that the later model the brake connection was in a different location. The existing line can be reworked to work. Charles

Not me, but I went to Bermuda 18 years ago. Loved it! I want to go back if I ever find the money. Have a great time. If you like diving make time to go, there are a lot of great dives there. Charles

It is rusty, but if I didn't have a project I might take a stab at it. The rear quarter rust and possible frame rail rust would be my biggest concerns. The doglegs and floor pans don't bother me that much and they have a replacement panel for the rear hatch sill too. I wonder what the reserve is? C
  25. The rocker panels have 2" diameter or so holes all down the interior sides. So they have very good access to atmospheric humidity. You may slow the rust, but its still gonna rust from humidity. The job only gets bigger the longer you let rust run... my 2 cents C
