  1. Nope. Didn't make a habit of carrying around a 35mm back then.
  2. My dealer was Jack Crew Trophy Datsun of Dallas. He made the decision to pull the car from delivery, pack it with options, and stick it on the showroom floor (sound familiar???). In addtion to the Spook and spoiler, it had front and rear bumper overriders, A/C, tape stripe, console arm rest, and an 8-track unit with cheesy speakers stuck to the rear deck. Topping it all was a set of 10" wide alloys with race rubber mounted. I knew the tires were not street legal so I made a deal to put the stock wheels and tires back on the car and swap out the 8-track for a Datsun AM/FM head. With the big wheels and tires gone, the price became workable with my trade-in and the car became mine.
  3. Go to the BRE site and check out the pics from the 1970 season, you'll find the original style - used only that year. Carl Beck has speculated that mine may be the last one surviving. I reached out to Randy Jaffe while he was building the tribute car and asked if I was at risk of a midnight raid to confiscate my gen-1. He forwarded my pic to Peter Brock who came back with a comment that yes - this was the original, designed to "cool the brakes" per SCCA regs. Everyone else began to copy it and the rules changed so he modified the design to be more efficient.
  4. Listing gone!
  5. The dealer had already installed the BRE 1st generation "Spook" and rear spoiler on my car when I found it on the showroom floor. Years later the Spook was ripped off by some high water but I retrieved it and later gave it a full restoration.
  6. While the electrical component of my ignition switch has been replaced twice over the years I still have the OE mechanical part of it. Let me know what you are looking for.
  7. Yes sir, those look are the ones. Send me a PM with the $ details. Thanks!
  8. View Advert 240Z Door Lock Rods Wanted I'm looking for a couple of door lock rods to finish out a set of locks. I need one short rod per the picture. Note these are L/R specific, I have a Left and need a Right, just the rod and not the small bracket. Also, I need one long single rod, not the bell crank combo rod. These are not L/R specific. Thanks, Jim Advertiser jfa.series1 Date 08/18/2022 Price Category Parts Wanted Year 0 Model 240Z
  9. I've had one of @zclocksunits in my car for over 10 years. Great workmanship, well worth the investment.
  10. Can we get some film on this??? 😲
  11. Before you commit to 15" wheels, be sure you can find satisfactory tires. The selection in this diameter has greatly dropped in recent years. 16" wheels have a much broader selection available.
  12. There are probably five major seals that would be best suited to Nissan OE if available: windshield, L/R doors, hatch glass, hatch inner. The principle suppliers of repro seals are Precision Replacment Products (PRP) and Vintage Rubber. The MSA kit is likely composed of PRP items. I heard some brief mentions some time ago the VR was actually using some pieces from PRP but I cannot confirm the accuracy of that. PRP door and hatch inner seals have long had a reputation for being fat leading to difficulty closing the doors and hatch. Most of the PRP seals for other areas can be used with good results. Don't overlook Banzai Motorworks and 240ZRubberParts for alternate sources of high quality repro items. Just my $0.05 worth - if that much! 😉 I'm sure others on this forum can chime in with experiences with both PRP and VR items. https://www.prp.com/ https://vintagerubber.com/ http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ https://www.240zrubberparts.com/
  13. That is a great looking car, seems to be in outstanding condition. Congrats on your purchase.
  14. Looking forward to your big reveal.
  15. The 240Z wiring harness passes thru the firewall just below the battery tray.
  16. Looking at the online catalog: http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/engine-240z-260z/accelerator-choke-throttle The one on the right is possibly from a automatic transmission car due to the metal tab on the rod below the pivot ball. That tab is shown in the catalog image. The one on the left is the early model for the throttle cable as @Terrapin Zmentioned. The online catalog shows an end date 7001 for item #20, the throttle cable.
  17. Rob, Thanks for the offer. I'm going to focus on clearing out existing units. so work out a deal with @SteveJ Jim
  18. View Advert 240Z Combo Switches This is a matched set of steering column switches, removed from VIN #1818 – a 02/70 build date car. According to the online parts catalog, the light switch is P/N 25160-E4600 and the turn signal switch is P/N 25540-E4600. These switches will likely fit all 1969 – 1971 LHD models thru build date 08/71. The switches have been extensively refurbished. The light switch was completely disassembled and cleaned. All contacts burnished, treated with dielectric grease, and continuity tested to verify functionality. The plastic control stalk has been polished to a like-new finish, all symbols are fresh and clear. The wiring harness is in perfect condition as are the terminals and connector. The turn signal switch was disassembled and cleaned. Contacts for the turn signal function were burnished, treated with dielectric grease, and continuity tested. The high/low beam switch was not disassembled. The plastic case on these units is extremely fragile and usually breaks with any handling. The switch has been tested for full 12V functionality. The wiring harness is in perfect condition, the same for the terminals and connectors. The lever arm has a fresh coat of satin black. The two switch set is $450 which includes standard domestic shipping. International shipping is available at actual cost. Payment via PayPal. PM if interested, thanks. 20. All of the S30 series cars used the strut tube - front and rear, as the reservoir for the hydraulic fluid. The shock or insert as you term it was an open design with no protective casing or shell. The FSM covers it very thoroughly. Today's shocks are fully encased/sealed units. +1 on your comment of adding a small amount of oil to the tube to prevent rustwelding of the new shock to the bottom of the strut tube. KONI recommends it, apparantly KYB does not.

I have the 3-piece set, pretty sure it was the 2mm pen. BTW - hold on to the cap seal and put it back in place to keep the pen fresh.

Here's a radio I did with the chrome pen.
