  1. Try looking for a full face dash cap. It's the economic alternative and they look great if installed correctly. Even my own half cap looks decent. MSA and Black Dragon have them. Another alternative is to fix your original dash yourself. Somewhere there's a thread on here that showed some good results. Can't remember who posted his work, but if your handy it may be the project for you.
  2. Yep, you'll have to be weary of rust for a 510 as well. How out of control is the rust on your Z? I would say all hope can't be lost unless the chasis or undercarriage are affected. Guys?
  3. yes, the ride for a 2+2 seems smoother and maybe even quieter. It's been years since I drove a 280 2+2, but that was my lasting impression from years ago. Still nice cars nonetheless, but you can't beat the coupes hands down in terms of performance. That's for any Z.
  4. Great site, I just checked it out. However, I thought there could be some more info on the Z31 and Z32. Also there was a typo on the Z32 page referencing the Z31 as a Z32. Personally, I had a few more suggestions, but still I appreciate your work. Let me know if you are interested. Andy
  5. Yes, I agree! Go with the white.
  6. How horrid is your mileage? Any numbers?
  7. Cheesy.....no thanks.
  8. Hello and welcome. Most enthusists will tell you to never go back to the origianl carbs. Sounds like you're on the right track in that regard. Good luck.
  9. It seemed to work in my case. I also replaced the tail light gaskets which seems to be a must. Do a search on the site for "exhaust fumes". Plently more info! PM me and I'll send you a word document about this stuff if you want.
  10. Hmmm.....Try e-bay! Hope you find one. I have heard that these mirrors are also used on 60's Mustangs. Not sure however.
  11. I have to agree. Nissan and Japanese car makers never really like to look back. I think that is admirable in a way....Always looking forward.
  12. I recently changed from the stock mirror to the chrome ones you mentioned. They are nice, and from what I've heard are the best mirrors MSA has to offer.
  13. I'll have to clarify; "370" and "260" do not sound as good as "240" or "280". It's all in how it sounds, not looks, drives, etc.

Ahh, that explains everything. I was thinking it was America's 280Z from 75-78.
  15. What exactly are those pictures suppose to be? Is it an S30 with a massive overhaul? The lines from its profile are identical to a Z; Which leads me to belive it is not a serious concept vehicle. If only.
  16. The site where this car was found is an interesting one. It has a great deal of vintage cars with some sort of story attached. There is another 240Z in there somewhere along with many other cars you don't see anymore.
  17. I would say that is an accurate summary as far as how the car has dated, in relation to current perceptions. I think there are two ways anything can age, and cars are no exception; They either age well and are considered timeless.....a stock 240Z is a good example. Or something loses its contemporary appeal.....like fashion from the 70's i.e. the car for auction. Even then I feel certain things can still be appealing because they are "dated". I do have an appreciation for "dated" themes here and there. I am an owner of a Z31 as well, and I feel it is the most dated Z-car. That's part of what appeals to me as I am a fan of the 80's; the decade I was brought up in. Well, my point is some things do not age well. Despite this, they can still be considered charming....a look back at what was "in" at the time. But, don't get me wrong; I'm not going out on a limb to defend the Z for auction. To each their own.
  18. right....That would make sense. Thanks!

How did a 280Z get down to your neck of the woods? Do you have any sort of history on it?
  20. ....Interesting door panels....velvet or something. The rear bumper sort of resembles that of a 280......weird. I'm not too keen about the hood artwork, though the rest of th car is cool. Seems to be sitting up rather high however.
  21. Looks alright.....But I agree that "370" doesn't roll off the tongue so well as its predecessors. Then again, nor did 260. No offense intended towards 260 owners.
  22. So here I am sick as a dog watching the Discovery Channel. To my surprise I saw a red 260Z 2+2 on this show called "Tuna Wranglers". It is owned by some bloke by the name of Damo who went out to sea for six months to catch some tuna on his ship the Kingfish. There was awesome footage of him leaving his house, as he peeled out in a cloud of dust off a dirtroad. Then it showed him park his Z at the dock as his crew was preparing to set sail. Made my day!
  23. Nice lookin' Z! I imagine it's been an odyssey to own her since then. I am on year 11....and I look forward to the next 11. Cheers.
  24. I find the other models interesting from that era.....(pre 80's) Just not sure if the Datsun name is gaining more respect or what. Granted you'll hardly encounter an F-10, but come on. Anyone??
