1. Congrats on the sale of your DMC. Looks like you raked in a respectable amount for the car. Well done!

    no worries.

Try disconnecting the EGR valve. It worked for me.

hmmmm.....maybe you can give all the aftermarket suppliers a run for their money. DIY Z!
  7. My Z was my third car. I was 20. I learned some harsh lesson from my first two vehicles. Thankfully the Z benefited from my previous experiences before owning her. Although, when I was 17 my friend's dad was selling a white 73 240Z, triple carbs, 5 speed, and whale tail for $1500. As much as I wanted that car I am glad I never owned it as my first. It would've been disasterous. Still wonder where that 240 ended up. 83 Nissan Sentra Station Wagon 82 Honda Prelude RIP.
  8. I range anywhere from 16 to 23 MPG. Since my 280 is my daily for at least another couple months, most of my driving is in and out of traffic jams, freeways, and surface streets. I drive though all kinds of conditions. My average for my recent roadtrip of the Southwest was around 21 MPG. .....Now what's this about a fuel change?
  9. Good to see another ZX on the board. Welcome!

  11. From what I understand it's going to be a bitch to convert your car to fit 260 bumpers. I would just get the rubber ends and call it a day.
  12. Agreed....but, sadly this "hear-say" perspective is evident in the History channel's story of the Z-car as well.
  13. Good meeting you yesterday while we were in line for refreshments. It was another awesome year. My girl and I had a blast. I've been going to the West Coast Nationals since the 3rd annual event in 98. It gets better every year!
  14. ....I frequent the local Craigs' List everyday looking up all Datsuns for sale. Sure, my main interest lies in the Z's, however I'll check out the other models as well. I have been noticing that 510's and Roadsters can go for a pretty penny in terms of Datsun value. Now, this doesn't at all surprise me as there is definately a dedicated following for those vehicles, which I too am fond of. But, it seems some people are trying to sell off their 210's, 610's, 710's, & pick-ups above 2k. When I see a B-210 for sale that surpasses that mark, it makes me wonder if someone out there is willing to pay that much. It's good to see that vintage Japanese cars are finally getting their props. Interest does seem to be growing every year. Of course I'll cite the 240Z for making this all possible. Nonetheless I want to hear your opinions on this subject. I know that anyone can sell any car for however much one is willing to pay. And that one man's rubbish is another man's treasure. Not to say that your average 210 is rubbish, but you get the idea. Are we witnessing other Dastun models increase in value? Do the occasional higher priced listings reflect a true representation of increased appreciation of vintage Datsuns? Or are these attempts at cashing in on the Datsun badge, regardless of model?
  15. Hmmmm.......I'll add that to the checklist. Thanks.

  17. .....She's taken me even farther! They are up to the task...well, that is with a little luck and preventative maintenance. The wheels I bought almost ten yers ago from Preceision Z in Canoga Park, CA. The turbo wheels seem to be a popular conversion back then. Funny, initially I was looking for a 280ZX when I strated my Z quest. Then when I got a closer look at the S30's I wanted one of those! Something about the interior and the steering wheel spoke to me even more.
  18. Wow.....this is a great thread....hehe.... Now I'm going to have to ask my girlfiend about her history. LOLLOL .....and I thought I introduced her to the world of Z's.
  19. Hello Adam. Have you used the search function on the site? That's always a good start. I know it must be frustrating having car issues, but sometimes it is difficult to troubleshoot over the internet. This is coming from experience on car forums. At any rate I hope someone can point you in the right direction. Good luck.
  20. Thank you! It was wonderful. There's nothing like hitting the road miles from home in the Z.
  21.

Death Valley, CA.....I took this one because the Z was parked next to a Nissan Sentra station wagon, which was my first car. At least it was a Datsun.

Mining Remains in Nevada.

I managed to get this picture of the Z being captured by a UFO!! 22. Well, after quite a journey I came back with a few photos. These are from the Southwest trip my girlfiend and I took. These pictures were taken with my Canon AE-1 (non-digital).

Leaving Death Valley, onward to Nevada

On a dirtroad next to a ghost town.

Part of the ghost town's remains

My girl poses with the Z at the Little A'Lee'Inn, Rachel NV.

At the entrance of Area 51.

Out in the middle of nowhere, NV

We made some friends along the way.

The Grand Canyon!

Parked on Route 66, Wiliams, AZ.

Leaving our camp site in Grand Canyon .....more photos below!
  23. The valves are probably out of adjustment. Judging from the mileage since last time, I would say they are due. I appreciate the help. But, I am aware that some of this is difficult to troubleshoot over the internet.
  24. Right, in other words I'll be looking into a rebuild down the road. Mmmm....I better start saving up. Yesterday I did rev the engine in nuetral. No rattling. It just seems to happen when I floor it in gear. I think my engine is getting tired.
