  1. I suppose you're right - 41 years is a long time to keep a car. However, I hesitate to add up the cost of gas, tires, annual license plate registration, insurance, and maintenance for all those years. Dennis
  2. Let me know how it turns out. Many years ago i rebuilt the four wheel well openings that the previous owner had radiused with a saber saw on my Avanti. I used metal screen and strip aluminum to reform the missing areas and the shape of the wheel well opening of each fender and coated with fiberglass mat and cloth. A skim coat of Bondo finished the repair. Thirty five years later, it's still in place on all four fenders. Dennis
  3. Both could be correct. It depends on the car, the owner, the maintenance, and the tolerance for issues that may arise. I've been driving mine for 41 years. Dennis
  4. Perhaps, with fiberglass mat or cloth & resin. You could make a form/template out of wire or cardboard, cover with fiberglass, and bond in place of the missing section. Sandpaper and a file would shape to fit. Dennis
  5. Don't get discouraged. Just think of it as a lifelong project and a place to store excess income. When you get the console stripped, check the inside surface for cracks and do your fiberglass mat or cloth repairs as in the referenced thread. It will turn out nicely for you. Dennis
  6. Here's a link to what I did with mine... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?34894-Refurbishing-the-Center-Console&highlight= Dennis
  7. Appears to be a bit of body work to undo due to the wheel well flares - unless you like the look. The rear spoiler may also be an issue. From the 240Z emblem shown, looks like an early Z that should have flow through air vents in the rear hatch lid - can't see them in the photo. "working except for a bad carburetor" could mean many things, so tread lightly. This one looks like it may have had a hard life. Dennis
  8. I wonder if a front bumper would have helped. Dennis
  9. J.C. Whitney, longtime purveyor of fine aftermarket parts - Chicago, Illinois. Dennis
  10. Continue to search. A better one is out there. Dennis
  11. It appears that in addition to the physical qualities, the 1st one has no title (run don't walk). The 2nd one DOESN'T say "needs fuel lines" it says, "fuel tank needs to be lined". I'd probably avoid both and keep looking. What's your budget (how much to acquire and how much to put into repairs)? Dennis
  12. Appears to have a significant amount of rust. It that cracked & bubbled Bondo on the rear hatch or just bubbled paint? Dennis
  13. Glad you're OK, sorry for the loss of your Z. Interesting to see the "crumple zones" that absorbed the impact. Were your seatbelts helpful? I often wonder about the ones in my '71. Dennis
  14. Factory R2 engine with Paxton supercharger - state of the art 1963 Dennis
  15. I've used Just Dashes to repair a panel on my Avanti. The work was well done - texture was matched, color matched, and delivered when promised. Dennis
  16. You've described the things that can be seen - all relatively inexpensive fixes. You mention that there's rust. What's the condition of the things that aren't as easily seen - like battery tray area, rocker panels, all fenders, suspension, exhaust, floor pans, transmission, dash? Rusted panel replacement could be the difference between a parts car and a restoration project. Dennis
  17. The CoverCraft poly cotton cover is good. I've used them on my cars for about 30 years. Cost is reasonable. Dennis
  18. 4 GB drive on the basic $22.95 model, 8 GB & 16GB available for $5 or $18 upgrade. He says he'll make other Hot Wheels flash drive models upon request. His web site: http://www.realcustomflashdrives.com/ Dennis
  19. Watch for the infomercial at 3:00 AM on your favorite TV channel. By the way, to avoid litigation from the Snuggie company, I suggest we change the name from SnuZZie to SnAzzie. My work here is done. Dennis
  20. You seem to have left out your "800" number. No problem with the bite missing from the PB&J sandwich. That just means my allergic reaction to peanuts won't be as severe and the subsequent product based lawsuit will be smaller. Dennis
  21. When you do a cost analysis of the product, be sure to include: Value of your time & labor to create each stand Cost of materials Cost of hard drive Cost of cables Cost of model included with base (must have a model to be visually exciting) Packaging Shipping materials/boxes Value of your time for packing & shipping Advertising Depreciation on tools Liability insurance Are we much over $150 per, yet? Dennis
  22. A Snuggie decorated with a Datsun Z pattern could work (SnuZZie?). After all, they sell them with University logos. And at $9.99 (perhaps a bit more after licensing fees to Nissan) it's a much better impulse buy than a Z hard drive. What better Christmas gift for the Z fan in your life? Dennis
  23. I think the best way to end up with one million dollars from this idea would be to start with two million dollars and the desire to make money selling hard drives with Z enclosures. On the other hand.....Pet rocks shaped like Zs...... Dennis
  24. I've made a couple purchases with no problems. Good communication. Dennis
