  1. I have 99 on hand - Oil-Resistant Buna-N O-Rings! I had to buy 100 to get the right thing. Give me an address and cover shipping - I'll send you one.
  2. Late afternoon drive on a country road.

Thanks guys, that makes sense. I was running the dizzy with only one of the points, so the thermo-switch connection to the missing points must be tied up somewhere. Going to track it down just for laughs.

I did some more searching, and @Zed Head looks to be right about the switch being for the dual point distributor. The challenge is that it doesn't show up until the 72 FSM on page EC-11. I found a thread here: https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-260z-280z-performance-technical-124/thermal-relay-question-36814/ that shows. The temperature range and continuity check you did fits with this chart. And the FSM said it was introduced in 71. Go to the Downloads in the Resources section to get the 72 FSM.
  5. Evap tank? I was getting a slight raw fuel smell in the cabin when I left Goldie in the garage overnight with windows up. Took me awhile but finally discovered a crack in the plastic fitting (nipple, but we're not allowed to say that anymore...) that connected the evap tank hose to the fuel filler neck. Also wondered about the seal of the filler neck to the body under the gas cap fitting. There are a number of hoses and fittings associated with the fuel tank and the evap tank that could be suspect. (And many of them are in the cabin) I've also seen the solder cracked on the tubing attached to the evap tank (as well as the fuel tank). The metal tubing that the hoses are attached to is all soldered to the body of tank(s) to mount and provide a seal.
  6. Here's the latest version of this diagram. I made it more clear what was on each side of the firewall bulkhead, and also changed the oil pressure sender wire color from Y/W to Y/B. <V4.0> removed in favor of newer version below later in the thread
  7. This is good avice. You don't even need to put the clip on the pin. You can check it before the transmission is installed. It will be obvious. But, loose bushings will make it worse.

This is why the pictures would have helped. I doubt that they used "passenger room" when they were thinking of the coolant in the engine cooling system. It was a fun puzzle though.
