Here we go! Nearly 2,000 feet of wire (a surprisingly large number for such a simple and small car), connectors, tape, and the various tools that I didn’t already have for assembling the various wiring harnesses. The wire is the marine grade from Sherco Auto and Marine Supply that @SteveJ referenced at the beginning of this thread. They did a good job with the order, but I’m a little bummed about the inconsistency of the wire color, in particularly the tracer stripes. I also did not take into account the increased outer dimensions of marine grade wire. The gauge is the same, but the insulation is pretty thick. I might run into some issues when I try to lace the looms through some openings or around corners. We shall see… 🤞🏻 The connectors are the Vintage Connectors 240z kit. I will let you know how accurate it is to a 1973 setup. There will be obvious differences where the three main harnesses meet due to the lack of the colored 10-pin connectors. The tools are just Amazon specials from china. I didn’t see a need to go pro on this because I hope to never do it again. It's a year ago that this topic was on the "today's listing" and i haven't worked on the car for over a year.. It's still on the lift in the garage.. When the heating stopped working in the garage and i got to ill to work on it.. it came to a halt.. So.. in the coming month i get some heat pumps installed in the house AND in the garage! (Normally i would install these myself. but no energy..) Also the carport is worked on and it will get much bigger, from 6 to almost 12 meters long! (I try to get it finished in august i hope.. normally a days work for 2 people.. 😞 ) As for the 280zx, i'm only looking for a nice trunk cover in blue.. Here a pic of my (sold long ago) red/black inside 280zx 1983. trunk cover.. It's so damn frustrating to be a handy man with no energy.. Or like the energy of a 100 year old... I hope there comes a day that doctors find out what the hell is wrong with me. 😒

I think the fuel shut off in the 77 was actually an orientation thing. If the car was upside down, the fuel was shut off. Porsche’s burn down a lot more often I think. Particularly carburetor models. personally, I don’t think the 280Z system is that vulnerable to fire as in a perfect world, which you should maintain, it’s a closed system with no fuel exposure. You’re more likely to have an electrical fire.

Braided hose kit at $380!!! https://resurrectedclassics.com/collections/rubber-plastic/products/datsun-240z-series-1-engine-hose-set-oem-style-braided-master-kit The only other place I could find these at was JDM @ $1100. https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/original-style-engine-bay-hose-set-for-datsun-240z?variant=831357009 I would have paid the $1100 when I got to the engine compartment in my restoration, but this is fantastic to see a competitor come in at nearly 1/3 the cost for these repro's!

Your 77 should already have one in the AFM. When air flow stops the fuel pump power is cut off. Your fuel pump should not be running when you turn the key on. Only at Start and when the engine is running. That first picture shows a modified engine, with individual coils. It must have aftermarket engine management. But, on the topic, if you haven't already done it - the 1978 and 280ZX fuel rails are safer than the three piece 75-77 rails. The hose connecting the three pieces can leak. That first picture shows what's probably a 78 rail. One piece metal.
