IMG_6800.MOV I can’t see any markings nor signs which indicate PZR under/inside the dashboard. No drawing on the bracket of the steering post. Probably, PZR was only few at the assembly line , so no need to distinguish from other cars ? Takeuchi san took of the glove box , and put it on the new dashboard. I checked it but I can’t find any white chalk markings. I have been sourcing sports option parts for my Z432. Pistons and other engine parts as well as tachometer, seats , steering wheel , etc. Some of them were hand crafted to replicate using a genuine parts as a donor. Put the parts for track , remove them for daily use . Kats

Here is a very interesting dashboard, an original one which has been taken off from a Z432-R . Takeuchi san got new one from local Nissan decades ago ( Nissan had PZR dashboards in their parts center until early year 2000 ) . Takeuchi san said he doesn’t need it , so I have got it .I will repair the two cracks . Or remain as it is for historical exhibitions? Maybe I want to have it clean. Because I will put some Z432-R parts into my Z432 just for fun . I am not aiming ‘wannabe’ car . I would like to have an ultimate both worlds . Luxury GT and Sunday racing . I respect Z432-R , and my Z432 too . Maybe this is for the first time to show the details for everyone here , please enjoy. Kats

I can see ‘ 45 1 16 ‘ in the stamp which is shown back of between the speed meter and the tachometer. It is 16th January 1970 . Takeuchi san’s Z432-R would have left the factory around March or April 1970 . Wiring harnesses have February and March stamp . So my two US 240Z (HLS30-02146/02156) were almost brothers ! Or Takeuchi san’s car would have left a lot later because of special limited production, might be taken care of a lot more than regular production cars . Kats

These are challenging times for business and the economic future in the short term is not good. I have both friends and family that own small business and they all same the exact same thing. My brother built 4,000 homes this past decade and had decided to pull the plug as the housing market is set to get crushed soon. With the looming 1.0 rate hike next week next week it will only worsen. Spoke to a close friend yesterday who says he’s probably going to shut down his business and layoff all his employees because the customers are no longer there and his prices are increasing so fast he cannot stay ahead of it and customers are pissed off at him. The challenges are becoming insurmountable to many small business and there is three things I hear over and over from all of them, 1. Cannot find good workers 2. The cost of doing business has increased sharply and they have to pass those costs to the customers which is driving them away. 3. More hostile governmental policies and tax burdens 4. The cost to borrow money has increase sharply and they don’t want to take on the risk. I am seeing this where I work. We just announced we are closing 90 brick and mortar locations in the US, we have stopped hiring and profits are way off estimates. We are operating fewer flights and the stock has plunged 19%. We have seen a serious reduction is global package deliveries. This company is a bellwether for the health of the nation’s economy. All signs point to “storm clouds gathering”. You did a NICE job on the 280zx!! 👍 Yeah, the 280zx is a great car to drive but the 240z is much more nimble, I like them both very much... i was thinking of placing a fidanza flywheel but the price is overhere ... eh.. i find it a bit high for a piece of aluminium and some steel screwed to it.. Yes.. i still haven't put back my 280 engine, last time i worked on my 280zx was october last year or so... pfff.. (I still hear them say those doctors, oh yes you can live easely without a thyroid.. they took half but i'm a wreck since 2010.. had pills in 2 sorts but to no relief. I'm again on levotheroxine but the only thing i experience is a bad temper.. and agressive (Towards printers that don't print haha... i kicked it's arse!!) The higher the medication the more agressiv i get.. so STAY OUT OF MY WAY!!! 🤬 (just kidding..)

Yesterday I pulled my tail light finisher parts and my grill and hubcaps out from storage to take some color comparison pictures inside with flash on and off and outside in filtered sun. I wanted to try in full sun but I lost my opportunity when the high clouds came in. Here are the results. The grill is original, not repainted. Inside with flash off... Inside with flash on... A couple outside, filtered sun (no flash)... Lastly here are couple of cut and paste comparison with snippets from @kats that I "borrowed".

Hi , I visited Takeuchi san and confirmed his Z432-R also has beautiful front center tip. Nissan genuine FRP bonnet has exactly the same beautiful shape but different structures on the back .You will see some aftermarket FRP ones which are available today have very different structures, i.e. they just copied steel original. Probably it was almost impossible to use genuine Z432-R bonnet as a sample ? One thing we noticed , overall width is slightly narrower than steel ones. Shrunk? Or is this a normal genuine one ? I’ll just pull the electrical connection on the cold start injector and start there. The car seems to idle a little rich by the smell of the exhaust. News update: Ran the car off the E12-92 module today and wow is the difference remarkable. The car accelerates so much better on the HEI. With the Nissan module it is much slower through the RPMs. That Nissan module might not be good. I’m going to retest with one of my backups. Right now the engine is singing using the Flame Thrower HEI. Never ran better and after the Valve lash adjustment and new plugs man is the motor sweet!

Mart the 280zx is brilliant! I did the manual swap, installed a fidanza aluminum flywheel while I was in there, completely changes the car having the manual and the flywheel makes it rev much more freely. I’ve been driving it at least once a week and I love it. also installed the recaro LX. Makes a huge difference to spirited driving as I’m not struggling to stay in my seat anymore! If the 240z defeats me I’d love to do a turbo build on the zx. It’s just such a great car, just needs more power to overcome the extra weight!

You’re right patcon they are rare over here and even more so in Western Australia. good news though is I already have a donor roof! I have thought about buying another one but any car I buy will probably be restored, not many survivor cars this neck of the woods, and so I will have no idea what’s under the paint or the quality of the repairs and just find myself back where I started. With a rusty Datsun. Plus I would be spending a minimum of 40,000 to 50,000. The cheap unfinished projects are extremely rare in my state.

In my never ending quest to find parts that no one seems to be looking for, I finally found what seems to be a good replacement for the single filament (1156 style) bulb sockets for the tail lights and reverse lights. The Dorman 84808 fits snugly in the tail light housing. You can find them on Amazon and Rockauto. I'm going to get a Dorman S847 to see if it's a suitable replacement for the 1157 sockets.
