Here's an update. I went ahead and pulled the master, as mentioned, it is for a ZX and I compared the depth of the piston to the stock master. According to my very rough caliper measurements, the stock master piston is substantially closer to the push rod than the ZX unit, I had thought it would be the other way around. I then decided to reinstall the stock one. The end result is the brakes work great! I had originally purchased the new ZX master because it was recommended with the Toyota brakes, the stock one works just fine. Thanks to all that chimed in on this!
