  1. Totally understand. My dad passed 3 years ago at 72 and Miss him dearly. Be sure to ask him any questions now before you forget. You never know when we'll be called home.
  2. What puzzles me is that vapor lock only happens on the 73 and 74 Z's. even when you change to round top (early) carbs, you still have a vapor lock problem with the 73 cars. WHY???? I've never had a pre 73 Z give me a bit of problem with vapor lock....there must be a reason.....but my 73 gave me fits in the heat.....until I built a 72 motor for it....then, no more problems....why? Must be something peculiar to the 73 Z's.
  3. Well the mechanic i am using now used to repair and manufacture parts for the locomotives that pull the vessels transiting the Panama Canal. He is very Smart and has concluded that the issue with my car is the amount of heat produced by the manifold as when the car is at idle during traffic the heat makes the gas boil and evaropates at the bows. We will be replacing the metal fuel rail with 5 feet long 1/4" rubber hoses to see if it solves the vapor lock or fuel percolation issue. He also recommended pulling the heat shield extensión out and wrapping it in header insulation.
  4. The script reads: "Sochaku Rei Sho", the first part of which might be translated as "Installation instructions...". It could easily be an in-joke that we - as outsiders looking in - don't 'get'. Original nuance lost. The Kanji actually looks like a Photoshop type digital addition to me. It seems to partially overlap - quite unnaturally - the flattened 'U' shape of the hinge doubler, and if you were going to write something on the inside of a fuel filler door, would you really choose to write it there, or on one of the flatter areas...? It also seems strangely offset to the right. Something a little odd about it. As is always the case, context is everything. An 'Internet Find' photo could keep us all guessing for an age, but its original setting could provide an instant explanation.

here is a close-up of the bracket t
  6. no, that would make you the shell answer man
  7. print shops dont charge that much. i had a 24" x 36" page of the wiring schematic printed for about $3. download to a memory car and they can print it for you
  8. Now download a copy of the 76 FSM from http://www.xenonzcar.com onto your IPAD and look through the BE section. What I like about those drawings is that they focus on specific functionality, making it easier to trace circuits.
  9. Having a common set of documents will allow for more specific instructions.

Organ collector. Don't go. They have a medical van waiting to harvest.
  11. Seriously... You can say that with a straight face? If I told my wife I'm headed out to the garage to wax my drive shaft, I'm not sure she'd be home when I came back in.
  12. Agreed! I think it looks great and I wish mine was that original. My PO applied paint is just one of a multitude of things that have been messed with on mine! If I were closer, I'd be happy to come over and swap interiors with you. I've got the black and have been digging the white for quite some time.
  13. Look's like you're got a great base to start off from. That lift is sure to come in handy. Add another vote for SEM. I did mine in the ginger color. Had it custom mixed and put into rattle cans at the paint supplier. The interior panels (not the vinyl) needed a water based paint and had to be cleaned/degreased first, then sprayed with an SEM product called Sand Free. Then apply the paint immediately after. It has held up well.
  14. Where's my sunglasses??? Found 'em. Ahhh. That's better.

new plug wires (3rd set ) i like the routing better than over the valve cover. i made some brackets out of aluminum and used zip ties to hold the wires in place
  16. Serban - who do use locally for bodyshop? I do most of my work but paint and final prep goes to someone else Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
