  1. Fitted the test brackets today. Thanks to CanTechZ and Grannyknot for the measurements. Their measurements made it easy and took a lot of the trial and error out of it. Here are some photo's of the fitting. The first row is measuring where to drill the hole for the right side bracket. My 280Z has the later valance panel with the strange vertical row of bolt holes. I need to finish some drawing work and then I'm ready to make some propper brackets. If anyone is interested, let me know. I already have three plus myself.
  2. A little progress on the rear bumper brackets. I cut out some thin sheet metal "prototypes" to check my measurements. Tomorrow Ill fit the bumper. Then I'll be ready to mass produce this stuff.

True, if the event is the top priority. Pulling the transmission itself may knock him out of the event though. Put a tow company number in your phone and just run the event and hope. Assume it's toast anyway. You'll provide entertainment when it starts grinding and self-destructing. A way to make new friends.

I madecsome quick measurements of my old bearings. Looks like Zed Head is right. The cage for the main shaft adapter plate bearing is 4.45mm. If its not noisy, I would at least fit a bearing kit. See photo. Its of a 5 speed, but the bearing in question is the same. POS 29.
  5. you can do the bumper swap on a saturday with little drama - it's the valence and grill work that take the time & effort. i did just the bumpers and will one day do the valence/grill but for now just the brightwork makes such a big difference visually it's worth it. i do hate eurodat's thread though, because his work is so amazing that it's pushing me out of my complacency....

So after over 4 months on jackstands I managed to have most of the parts bolted back onto the car. I mounted my freshly painted rims and put it on the ground. Feels so good to see it sitting on all four tires. Need to dial in the coilovers now and do a complete geometry. For reference, the coilovers (BC Racing) are lowered all the way down at the moment. The rear is exactly where I want it to be. The front will be raised 5-10mm and I’ll have to dial out quite some camber! ">
