My 12/70 car has the heat riser.

I had a feb 1971 and had NO switch for the warm air. it must be a later mod on your early car.

Looking at the carburetor page, I see another break off that might explain the break off better.

To Aug 1971 was the 4 screw carb and the non flapped air box.

From Sept 1971 -> June 1972 would be the 3 screws carb with the flapped air box.

The in July of 1972 they started in on the Flat top, and its air box.

This seems to make more sense to me with some later 71's having the flap on them.

FWIW, my 12/70 car came from the factory with 4-screw carbs, heat riser, and flapper airbox installed.

Mine did as well, our cars were built within weeks of each other.

Well I guess I am way off on this topic. I was trying to go off the CPM info and my own experiences with the carbs.

It does not seem to match up with member data.

@Patcon If you decide to get Jim's air box instead of mine I would not take offense. I like the early one as it looks cleaner than the flapper one. IMO.

Adding to the discussion, my 4/71 has the flap style.

Well then, it looks like all my date theories are out in the trash.

I guess it boils down to either you have the flap or you don't!! Simple!!

Oh well, It has been said a lot of times, they installed what they had at hand in the factory, those dates on the fiches are just indicators..

I had a feb. 1971 car without the flap summer/winter. It came around may/june that year.. not important .. i think..
