Especially Authority. Just because one excels in one field, it doesn't mean one knows squat about anything else.

That's why I posted that media bias chart earlier. There needs to be news. But get your news from the top tier news organizations. Not facebook or some guy posting memes on the internet.

I think I asked this the first time it was posted.  Where did this graphic come from?  Anybody notice that, like, 2/3 of the news outlets are left of middle?  Suggests that the person who put the graphic together sees the middle as to the right.

Just an observation.  I don't even see The Epoch Times on it.  Off the chart.

Washington state's risk level just went up, according to COVIDActNow.  It's the game, say it's over too soon and people start taking more risk.  Hope we get it knocked way down over the summer.  South America is suffering, I think, because it's winter down there, among other issues.

Epoch Times is on the chart... Look way down in the lower right hand corner. On the political left-to-right scale it's in the "Hyper-Partisan Right" section. And on the reliability scale, it's in the "Contains Misleading Info" section.

Interesting to note that they weren't that bad off a couple years ago. In previous versions of the chart, they were closer to the middle and considered more reliable. But then there's now. Now they are actually rated worse than OAN and Newsmax and one small notch above Infowars and the National Enquirer.

I gotta give National Enquirer a shout-out though... they're close to the middle. It's all unreliable garbage, but at least it's not hyper-partisan garbage! LOL

Here's another media bias chart, but I don't like it as much as the other one. Why? Because it makes no distinction as to the reliability of the source, just the political lean. The other chart above produces the bell curve by rating both reliability AND political leaning and I think it provides a much better "at-a-glance" view of the situation.

I also don't like the fact that this chart it's a mish-mash mix of "opinion" and "news" sources. For example... Fox News Opinion (oxymoron) is listed as far right as you can go, while Fox News "news only" is still listed as right leaning, but not as much. That's fine and all makes sense to me. My issue is that they have CNN listed as "on-line news opinion only" (another oxymoron) and it's in the leftmost column. So is that CNN's opinion category, or CNN's news category? It's not split up like Fox is. Same with MSNBC.

Other's make perfect sense, like Wall Street Journal". Their news section is in the middle, while their opinion section leans right. I get it. But they should provide the same treatment to all the media outlets and many of them they didn't separate the news and opinion.

But anyway, here's another chart with all my (clearly my opinion) caveats:

formatting was all kinds of screwed up. No idea why.

So I also understand that this whole thing is like trying to "prove reality".

What is reality, and how do you prove it? It's philosophy. For all you know, you are currently in a coma laying in a hospital right now and this is all a dream. You had a bad car accident six months ago and none of this is real. You might wake up tomorrow and find that all of this has been a dream. You really just can't prove it.

So I guess I'm just trying to attach some kind of objective guide to a subjective life because that's all I got.

If I don't know what to believe or who to trust, my conservative nature turns me to the long standing big names in media that have a long standing reputation and skin in the game. If a couple big names in media all say the same thing, then I give it credence. And if a situation gets beyond that, the courts decide.

All the new on-line sources that have been around for just a couple years. With patriotic sounding names. Not going there. Either side leaning.

So you might call me a sheeple, right? Following the old-school establishment?

While others are being lured off to the side by someone whispering sweet nothings in their ear... "follow me... everyone else is fake."

So I gotta ask... Who's the sheeple?

They figured out how to get Alabamians to vaccinate. No spectators again this fall if the data doesn't improve. Phones are ringing off the hook at my pharmacy and other locations to get in. Priorities people, Alabama's #1. LOL

That site only evaluates online written content, apparently.  So the "shock jock" personalities wouldn't be included.  Rush Limbaugh, for instance.  And the videos and interviews that the networks show wouldn't be included either.

We provide separate bias ratings for news and editorial/opinion content for a number of outlets. Unless otherwise noted, all bias ratings are based on online, written content, not broadcast, TV, or radio content. Our ratings are fluid and subject to change over time as new information is gathered and biases change. Someone said in Washington state there was an offer of a joint for getting vaccinated.

Sign me up, dude.

Could you mail mine?

Red Cross should follow these type incentives for blood donations. We've gotten to a "what's in it for me" society now and donations are suffering from that. Everybody already gets a couple of beers after a donation to get that quick buzz, just have a cooler full at the EXIT door. LOL

I have donated over 3 gallons of blood over the past 40 years. I only did it for a couple cookies and some orange juice.

My Dad maxed out at 13 gallons I think. Had those little gold blood drops in a frame. We put it in his casket.

He did it to get off work early and still get paid and cookies, juice. LOL

Wow, a pin for every gallon, very nice.

They never gave me any pins. Just a couple cookies and some juice.

At the donation that put me at a gallon (this was a very long time ago), I announced to the phlebotomist it was my first gallon with that pint. She scoffed at my pride and announced she was well over three, nearly to four.

So being the competitive guy I am, it was game on. A couple pints into gallon four they had trouble finding a vein, and after a few tries at stabbing me, I passed out. They don’t like it much when you pass out, and much excitement ensued. I stopped donating for a year or so, and when I went back to start again they had trouble finding a vein, and when they were successful at getting it hooked up, it didn’t want to flow. Didn’t even get a full pint.

So I quit going to donate. That was about ten years ago.

I really wish that I could donate often, as I have blood type A- and it's unusual.  I would like to help others with this blood type.

But one of the prostate meds I have taken for years is an absolute prohibition for women, so I can't donate since I started taking it.

Can't they put an M on the bag? I guess that's sexual discrimination at it's worst.

They probably throw mine away after testing. They should charge more for it though, it's expensive what I do to keep this machine running. LOL

I tried to donate in my 20's and as soon as they found out about my Heroin using girl friend at the time they told me to get lost.  Fear of Hepatitis and HIV I guess.
