July 17, 20177 yr comment_525919 Back in 1962 when they started out .... The original designs and Patents was made way back in the 70's . They were a very popular conversion for British cars distributors back in the day. Corporate Headquarters really means nothing in this day and age of Global Economies. . Multiple company buyouts over the years/decades.. EdIt. Multiple company buyouts over the years/decades. LOL. Especially to you, it seems. From Per-Lux, through Grote International to PerTronix Inc, there's no "British Engineering" connection: http://www.pertronix.com/about/default.aspx http://www.grote.com/about/history/ Loving the Canadian connection in there. I guess for you irony is how you get those nice crisp folds in your shirt. July 17, 20177 yr comment_525935 Typical corporate hype story, distributed around to various parts suppliers to make the brand look like it has history. Doesn't' say anything about where Per-Lux started, or who "the engineer" was. He could have been a Lucas engineer. July 17, 20177 yr comment_525936 Bessie that, assuming that all "tape" is the same and that a good engineer couldn't specify one that did the job is a bit misguided. The tape has worked for thousands or hundreds of thousands of people for hundreds of thousands or millions of miles. It's simple, easy to manufacture, and apparently cost effective process, based on the price of the final product. It's been working fine. July 17, 20177 yr comment_525947 It's still undefined. Per-Lux is a mystery firm. You're right though, there doesn't seem to be a U.K. link. Is Hemphill a British name? Maybe that's it... https://www.google.com/patents/US3906920 He's looking Californian, Silicon Systems. https://www.google.si/patents/US3581720 "both of Balboa, CA" - Then Fountain Valley in 3906920, above.
