That table is needles designed for the .090 nozzle. Anything in that list will be way too rich to run in the .100 nozzle.

Maybe one could switch over to a .090 nozzle/needle pair and find something that might work?

Thank you. I have a lot of gaps in carburetor knowledge. I was impressed with the amount of information on needles on that page, though.

 

Agreed. They do have info on the .100 needles as well, but they didn't write the java to put it into table form like they did for the .090s

I think I'll stick to the .100 jet combo. 

I have scoured all the tables on su needles looking for something comparable and honestly there isn't much. Hitachi really had their own ideas of slope for the needles when they came up with this.

KH will give richer low-mid and leaner mid-high band

SI will giver richer low-mid and richer mid band

SP will give leaner mid and high band band

I am using sm needles on my 3 screws su carbs with a modified  2.6 liter engine and  schneider 274f and its impossible to have a smooth idle with them. I guess they are still too rich at idle. So rich plugs start to foul and engine tends to stall on traffic jams. Using atf as damper oil.

@Chickenman In post #11 you mentioned dropping your E88 needles .020" to lean it out at idle and it worked great. Do you think this would work for Jalex's SM's? Seems like he's having the same problem you had.

Come on guys give me the secret. Im getting there finally. It seems that the front carb requires half a turn more than the rear carb on the idle mixture knob

 That 1/2 turn is probably the difference in the float levels of the carbs unless the needles weren't installed properly.

This is really strange that both carbs cannot be dialed equally as i paid ztherapy almost 700 usd to rebuilt both carbs on november 2014

Also noticed that the axis that holds the float is different on the front carb in comparison to the rear one
