Clapsing a coil?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking they meant collapsing but after google.com-ing I can't find an answer. Is it removing one round of the springs to lower the car?

Thanks for any clues or for deciphering the bill.

When I cut my springs I heated a point halfway around the coil on the cut end to red hot and bent it to give a flat perch for the spring. Otherwise the bottom coil sits on the point of the cut portion and puts bow in the spring. Maybe they did the same. If you can see the spring perch you might be able to see signs of heating on the last coil.

Seeing as how it was in the context of the strut work, I'm positive they meant collapsing one coil (to lower the car).

I couldn't see anything that looked different from the car next to it, I spend half of my time comparing the 2 against each other. I'll call them today, my google minded self didn't even google the Shop, thanks Steve. I thought maybe that's what they called it when they had to install a strut instead of "compressing the spring". It's bad out alignment and shredded the inside half of the tread on the front passenger's side of those BF Goodriches. I think maybe their "clapsing" is the cause of that.

Thanks again guys, y'all are the best.

There has been a shop there as long a I can remember. I don't know if it's still in the same hands, though. LOL

Maybe they were trying to "level" the car.

Shirley "collapsing" is watt they mint.

Of course, it was, and stop calling me "Shirley".
