Air Dam

Featured Replies

I'm really wanting to put a new air dam on my 72' 240z. I see a lot of pictures where they all have the same basic one. When I looked around for them, there were a couple that looked a lot alike and I cant tell which is which. so I have a pic of one that I'd want, and one that is available on the internet. Are they the same?

They are the same, but shop around, not only do you need to consider the price of the airdam itself, but also the cost of shipping. Shipping can be a deal-breaker.

Do a search using the term vendors, and then look them up to find the best deal on the airdam and shipping!

No, those are not the exact same. The one you linked to is fiberglass and the tophu530 linked to is urethane.

Make sure of your choice...Fiberglass tends not to enjoy unplanned contact with curbs, rocks, dead raccoons, etc...not sure of the handling comparison between urethane and fiberglass...

Urethane needs to be braced. Otherwise it will flex at high speeds and reduce effectiveness as well as permanently deform. The brace is supposedly simple to make and fixes the issue. I plan on buying the Xenon and add the brace. It's much better than constantly repairing cracks and repainting the fiberglass one.

The air dam on the blue Z looks like the one I was trying to track down a year back. The one I found was made in Australia, and the company is no more. Where did your picture originate ? I was going to buy several air dams and have them shipped over to cut down on shipping costs. Please keep me informed if you come up with the one on the blue Z. The Ozy dam was fiberglass. I have been looking for a long time for just the right one and when I found it is NLA.

2 Fast 2 Z - I have that same air dam on mine... Though its the 280Z version not much of a difference besides the parking lights are in my grill. Any Z looks great with an airdam

I had this air dam on my 260Z in the late 70's-early 80's. I bought replacement in the late 80's but the quality and fit were terrible. But it's still my favorite profile, more sculptural from the similar air dam offered by MSA. Where did you buy it?

Thanks,
