I bought the Libre's from him (that also had new tires on them) and had them cleaned up and put them on my '71. They replaced the 4-spoke '78 mags I've had on it since '93. Now I'm period-correct.

Wow! That was a score. Libres are my absolute favorite wheels on 240z's. My previous Z, (early 1990's), was a white 71 with Libre's. Great wheels.

Yes, Stephen, the four spoke wheels (like yours) are period-correct, more or less. They were offered on S30s as a factory option in other markets, and were (in theory, at least) available via the parts department after purchase here in North America.

I like the four spoke mags, and know of a set I could get reasonably affordably. But I keep waffling because period-correct isn't quite enough. When I imagine my red car with those on it, it seems OK, but not quite the look I want.

And that's the problem. I'm pretty certain that the four spoke aren't what I'm after, and (even though I like them a lot) neither are Libres. But I really don't know yet what it is that I do want. I can only hope I'll know it when I see it.

Really like the four spoke Libre's ! Took a lot of bead blasting, cleaning and bakeing to remove the original brake dust embedded in the metal. The powder coating color matching to the car really made them a standout set of wheels. Would not have any other!! See my gallery for a closeup of the wheels on Silver Bullet 240Z.
