Anyone know of a good place to purchase a rebuild kit for a triple solex 44phh (5 bolt)? My set is pretty clean just the gaskets and other usual seals need to be replaced.

Hello fellow Z'ers, Recently started having an issue on my Z running really rich and I can see fuel dripping from the nozzle into the barrels. Car ran excellent for months; then suddenly went to start it and noticed my AFR in the 9's and noticed the drip. The motor is not stock; has a .495 lift and 290 duration, so keep that in mind. Idle Jets it ran - 65, but I also tried swapping in 62.5 and 60's and the AFR stayed the same. Mixture screws are 1.5 turns out. Fuel Pressure is right below 4psi (with 3.5 - 5psi spec) and was tested with two different gauges Floats at 30mm (within 29-31mm spec) Pump nozzle sizes tried: 40 an…

Well some of you that I am now proceeding with my Mikuni install. When I purchased these carbs I got lucky and recieved a very complete kit. These look new right out of the box-infact the carbs came in a Mikuni box:) I even recieved an original 1985 catalog and service manual. I decided to post up parts of these Mikuni publications on here for all to view. Between the two publications I have part numbers and illustrations of the carbs and their parts. Let me know if there is anything in particular that you might want to see. I know folks buy these carbs with the intent to rebuild, but not much to go on. I hope this thread and pics will help. I'll start out with the some…

I have been having issues with my OER SK 40mm carbs. The problem is very elusive and I have not been able to find the source. I will do my best to describe the problem and I am willing to clarify if needed. I am going to refer to carb(#1) as cylinders 1 and 2. Carbs #1 and #3 are perfectly fine, it is carb #2 that is acting up. I started to sync the carbs, first by disconnecting all the linkages. I managed to balance #1 and #3 using an unisyn tool. However, #2 (cylinders 3 and 4) would be run leaner than the others. I unscrewed the idle mixture screws for #2 a few turns, and it leaned out even more resulting in popping out the carb and a nearly white spark plug. Also…

I have a set of triple DHLA40 carbs on my 240z. I have the fuel pressure set at only 2.5psi and the front carb started dripping fuel out of the bore. Thinking the needle valve was not closing all the way I took the top off and using my vac. gauge at the fuel entry port, it will hold vacuum with the float all the way up. However, just the slightest drop in the in the float releases the vacuum. I sprayed some carb cleaner down the fuel entry port and around the needle valve itself. It did not help any so I bent the floats a little so it force the floats to sit higher and ensured they were not rubbing against the body of carb. This helped but I noticed when try to adju…

I have a set of triple 40's on my 240z that I'm trying to dial in. I had a low RPM stumble that I cured by moving up in jet size from a 50F9 to a 55F9. In the process of doing swapping idle jets, my idle mix screw is now only about 3/8 of a turn out and I'm having some rough idle issues and richness. I'd like to try an idle jet that is right in between the 50F9 and the 55F9 but I'm not sure which one that would be - maybe a 55F8 or 55F2? I've seen the chart showing the F# order from lean to rich (attached), but I don't know how a 50 series F chart compares to a 55 series F chart. Is there any overlap or is it sequential? BTW, the car runs great off idle. …

I'm in need of someone that knows how to tune webers.I have a L28.20 over Ported and polished N42 head,Robello street cam.flat top piston 280zx distributor that I can't seam to get running correctly. The car has a slight bog at 2800 RPM. Bseam to hit a wall at 4k RPMS. My trimming is set to 20 degrees at idle vacuum advance disconnected. Distributor have not been re curved. Driving at highway speeds the car seams to bog when press down on the accelerator. The transition isn't smooth from idle circuit to main. If there anyone or a shop in N.E Indiana or the surrounding area that can help I will greatly appreciate it. I'm also willing to Compensate you. Jetting …

Hi I have a 71 240 that I have owned since 1989. When I got it there was a pair of DGV's installed that never worked very well. About ten years ago when I had the cylinder head rebuilt I had a pair of Z Therapy SU's installed and they have been perfectly fine. However.... I still lust for a set of 3 sidedrafts. Is there an argument to be made for Weber vs Mikuni or the other way around? Size recommendations? The engine is a stock L24 block and the cam is the stage 1 performance cam from MSA.

I have issues with leaving things alone. Blame it on a short attention span, or what ever you like, but I have an urge to try some 45 DCOE's on my Datsun Spirit L28 STR engine build. My 40 DCOE's are doing well, but at times I wonder just how much I am leaving on the table on the top end. I changed out my chokes in my 40's to 32mm and it really woke up the top end. I have read that driveability suffers from the larger opening on the low end. My only point of comparison is my Roadster. It is 2 liters with 45 DCOE's on it. It idles and runs VERY smoothly and revs to the moon. Granted that is 0.5Liters/ per cylinder. While my Z is .47 liters/ per cylinder. I guess th…

Wondering if I should be concerned with this... I am setting up the 45's on a canon manifold. This model of Weber (45 DOCE 9) does not have a Progression Hole inspection port and hence I am confirming the location of the throttle plate and progression holes prior to mounting the carbs to the intake manifold. I have noticed on one carb that the return spring (and location of the throttle plate) is a little bit" lazy", as the throttle plate will still allow for one progression hole to remain uncovered unless I apply a small amount of pressure to the throttle plate spindle. I do not have this issue with the other two carburetors. I am wondering if I should be conce…
