The man I bought my 240z from had the car painted and I noticed that the hatch shelf was filled. I'm thinking that some metal must have been welded into the corners, because the surface is very smooth and feels hard when I knock on it. Is this type of modification usually done to early z cars when they're painted? I know this a common spot where rust can develop on z's, but I hope there wasn't a huge amount of rust in the corners of the hatch jam before it was filled. It seems pretty solid to me.

I just bought my first car (car is ten years older than I am) and it will need new seat soon. I was thinking that I could just head over to the junkyard. So what will fit? Thanks...

If I remove the front and rear, or just the front bumper from my 76 Z, will there be a noticeable increase in gap in the wheel well between the tire and wheel well? ( will the car rise up without the 40 lbs on each end?) Also, does the rear quarter panel on 76 280 z have a hole for the bumper rubber the screw into, like the 240s and the 78 280z? Or is it smooth under that huge bumper?? Also, I def want the bumperless look, but have been rear ended twice in the past 3 years. Once in my daily Camry, which was OK, and once in my near classic SS, which I was lucky only damaged the bumper and exhaust. The way they look, the earlier bumpers wouldn't really protect anything …

Hello All, I am getting to the point where the body panels and doors will be put back on the car for final fitting before I spray color. I still need the front valance panel for a 240. Out of all the parts I had to find this wasn't expected to be the hardest! If anybody has one that they can sell me please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks, Jeff

Getting prepped for paint, I have glass out, WS removed etc. Left bits and pieces in the channels plus there is a black goo around the back glass and windsheild. Also, the car had the aftermarket rub strips down the sides. I pulled those off carefully but lots of grey sticky stuff left on the paint. Does anyone know of a good solvent or tool that will make this job easier? I have tried lacquer thinner, etc but the stuff is pretty tough.

The man I bought my 240z from had the car painted and didn't put the rear quarter panel emblems or the hood emblem back on the car. I have new emblems, but I'm worried that I'll crack the paint when I drill the holes for the emblems. I can see where the original holes are for the hood emblem, but I don't know how exactly I should drill so that I don't split the paint around the holes. Any ideas on how I can go about doing this safely?

I'm not having much luck researching this, but I looked at number 000379 the other day and I couldn't find the VIN ID Plate. Were the plates in the same place for all years, like on the door jam? The firewall was properly scribed but I wanted to see if the plate said 69' or 70'. thanks

Getting all the glass out and ready for paint, it seems impossible to re-use the chrome trim. Is there some sort of secret to this? I am being as careful as poss and the thin trim still bends and tweaks, pretty sure I will need to order new ones.

Hey Guys, please look at my pics and evaluate the fitting of my front bumper. I am concerned with the ends especially. I know that there was some kind of spacer between the bumper and the fender, but I can't recall the size and the proper gaps. I know mine is probably wrong , but it will probably be a bit of compromise since I have had passenger side fender damage at one time. I can't seem to get the ends to pull in symetrically and I am not sure how tight the ends are supposed to pull against the fender. Please give me some feedback!

My dad (Diseazd) Has been looking for a passenger side dogleg for his 71 240z for quite sometime. Our body guy has Tabco pieces but he doesn't like them. He is a perfectionist and looking for original Nissan piece. He is even less enthusiastic about Wolf steel/alfa parts so...... If anyone has or knows where we can find a passenger RUST FREE dogleg, please let us know. Even if it's on a car and needs to be cut out. We will pay for labor depending on the cost of course. For anyone who is not sure what the dog leg is, it's the outer metal b/t the rear end of the rocker panel (below the door) and the front of the rear wheel arch. Thanks in advance, Brandon
