Why do I have to run an electronic fuel pump and then run a regulator to get the same output as my old mechanical fuel pump. When I pull out the mechanical pump, do I just use the L28 EFI plug that sat where the stock mechanical fuel pump would be? Do I want to put the electronic one by the fuel tank or will it matter? Will the filter go after the pump or before it? Do i need to get a different one aside from the OE style?

Cleaned up the gas tank and removed the evaporation tank Removed evaporation tank cleaned up the Gas tank and put it back together. I used a tank restore kit from Hirstauto: http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ARK-01 . The outside of the take is painted with Hirsch Miracle paint: http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MIR-QUART Cleaned, sanded, etched, rinsed and dried a bunch of times. I found 1 hour with a heat gun set on low stuck in the gas inlet dried it well. Followed all the instruction on the gas tank kit, except: I cleaned the tank with Muriatic acid first to remove the rust (there wasn’t much rust but I fixed it anyway). Use all appropriate…

picking up some triple webers this up coming weekend, but I've got a couple questions, first off what do I do with the coolant line for the carbs that runs behind the head? Also what about the line that connects to where the thermostat is? Do I use the stock choke cables and just add a third? Is there a walk through anywhere on here or elsewhere or instructions that shows you what your supposed to hook up where? It comes with everything, but just trying to read up before I get them.

So I've done some searching, and can't find the answer I'm looking for so I'll just ask the experts. (Shameless ego stroking, isn't it) The car is a 73, original motor with 72 RT carbs and intake. I'm running the dual K&N round air filters, 3 1/4 inches deep. What are the best power cones to install in the K&N filters? Is anyone using this setup with success?

First of all, I recently purchased a 74 260z from a gentleman, the car is everything i've wanted in a Z car, with the exception of a running engine. I've read up TONS of "Search button" topics, and looked all through diagrams of these darn carbs but cannot seem to figure the damn things out. The carbs that are on the car are a set of 3 screw bottle top SU's, im assuming late model 72's that the gentleman put on there, when i bought the car, he said i could fill the bowls of the carbs up with gas and it'd run like a champ and that it had only sat up for long enough for the gas to go slightly bad, but the fuel pump wasn't kicking on, so what i did was after purchasing said…

Hey so as you can see the black smog/balance tube has been hacked and chopped (its a junk yard build). My plan is to take off the rail completely and cap off the intake runners leaving only the booster vacuum hose on the rear intake runner. Then attach the crank case hose to the intake filter housing and plug all the exhaust manifold holes. Would this work or do i need to weld a tube connecting the two runners?

My duel SU round top 3 screw runs crappy and is backfiring through the exhaust when you pull your foot off the pedal(deceleration) what does this mean, does it mean it is running rich? Any help would be appreciated. It is also running rough and seems to want to stall. I just adjusted the carbs and float.I set the floats at 9/16 they do not suck full at that point but begin when the float starts to drop, I used the FSM for the carb sync. any ideas ZDUDE1967

So after rebuilding my Webers, I am having a problem with getting the car to rev at tip-in of the throttle plates. I added back in a stock mechanical fuel pump and at the tank I have a non-stock electric fuel pump. Previously, the fuel return line was blocked off and the fuel was dead-head banjo'd into the last carb. I now have the fuel returning to the tank. I have no choke set-up so it is cold blooded as hell until it warms up. What are you other guys with triples doing? Silverstreak is using an RX-7 E-pump at the tank. Some seem to think that the mechanical pump can't be used because it can't feed the triples. Others say they run the mechanical in addition to the E-p…

are the 280z runners larger than the 260z? I found 2 pristine SU's but they have the 260z runners.

SU Mixture Question 1 2 3

Background Info: The engine idles reasonably well, (given the stage 3 cam), runs fine and temp is stable at 180F, even on hot days. Mixture nuts are set at about 2-3/4 turns each. My colortune shows my mixture to be about right, measured at plugs 2 & 5. Timing is set at 7 BTDC & carbs are balanced. Reading recent posts, I got "curious" and tried lifting the pins that raise the carb pistons. For both carbs, the engine stumbles badly... Not what it's supposed to do. Even when I increase mixture 1 full turn on the mixture nuts, it still stumbles. I do have the larger jet needles to accomodate the bored & stroked 2.7L L24. Question: So what do I bel…

I have a 73 240 with webers that have been on my car for at least 20 yrs. It has been sitting for about 3 yrs with occasional starting. I have not been able to get the motor able to go on the road due to the carbs dribbling fuel while running and cant get it to idle without the the choke on. I have had the carbs rebuilt but not by a specialty shop and they still do not operate correctly. I have taken the tops off myself to check the float level and still not able to get them to run well. I am thinking of buying two new carbs but i would rather spend the money on other parts for the car when I have two possibly good carbs allready. Felling very frustrated, Any feedback wou…

I am at my wit's end and need help on my 260Z race car. Ever since I got the car two years ago, I have had issues at high RPM and after trying lots of things, I'm pleading for help. Here's the engine background... L26 engine just rebuilt with new rings, valve job, and a mild cam Thermostat guts removed leaving only the ring and cage for a restriction Prior to rebuild a few weeks ago, it was 100% original 3 screw SU's with SM needles, floats set to spec and chokes working smoothly and carbs synchronized. N36 intake Previously used OE needles in carbs New mechanical fuel pump with 260Z electric pump removed Previously tried another new mechanical pump and an electric pu…
