as I think about alternative carburetion, I wonder what is the cfm ratings of the stock carbs on a 1970 240Z? Holley makes the 390 which is expensive, but being a Ford person, I am quite familiar with Ford carbs that are similar to Holleys. The Autolite carbs have small cfm rating and bolt up the same as a Holley. There are 441 and 480 cfm versions. There are even 2V versions that are 356 cfm etc. These would be dependable inexpensive carbs that could be bolted to a Holley type manifold. So what doe sa stock system flow??

This should be simple! how much power could i squeeze out of 1982 L28 f54 block with a 1983 P90 head ? with a Ld28 crank balanced and lighten'd along with forged pistons and rods fully balanced and coated! I plan on turbo'ing the motor and switching it to a fuel injected system and to a distributerless system. I know it's possible to do this with some time however I would like an estimate of what i could pull out of that engine. Thankz Nick

Help, I just picked up a 1973 (late 72) I have had A 240z before but this one has A ton of go fast stuff on her. Thats where it starts the motor has A big time cam with 3 into 2 headers and the old school wire cage air cleaners. Now with the headache I got the car for the most part nonrunning ( started but wouldnt stay running) with the aircleaner box and fact ex mana gone. There are caps on the vac holes on the intake. The carbs where set rich big time so I went and tried to put the carbs at the fact settings. It runs fine but when you bring up the rpms fast it back pops through the carbs. I have pulled the valve cover and made sure the valves are set proper they are. …

The new SCCA GT rules allow us to run fuel injection next year. I am thinking of going to the TWM unit with a TECII from Electromotive. Has anyone had any experience with these units? Thanks Krys Dean

I have an interesting problem I can't seem to solve. Several weeks ago, I checked my timing and as usual check the spark on all the plug wires. The #3 and #4 cylinders were misfiring. I quickly purchased another set of blue thunder wires and rechecked. No difference. I then checked the timing spocket on the cam to see if the chain had streched and decided to adjust the spocket ot hole #2.. After adjusting the spocket I noticed that there was no chain guide bolted to the front of the block. That combined with an oil leak from the main seal convinced me that I should go ahead and pull the front cover and replace the chain, tensioner, guides, main seal, distributor and …

I finnaly dug my z out from under some snow and rolled it into the shop for the beging of an expensive journey. I am starting on the engine and have ordered " How to midify your Datsun". Does anyone know if this is a good polace to start? Also what is a good running Mild cam and what modification should I plan on for the head? Also this is a 73 so people have told me to junk the carbs because of problems with vapor lock. Any ideas there?
