hello i was wondering whether or not u could adapt a 260z electronic dizzy to a 240z wiring harness. I have the 260z dizzy and ei module, just tried the petronix system and burnt it up so thats 80 bucks down the drain. If not does any one have a 280zx dizzy, and how much do they run Thanks Rob

Hi guys. I'm looking for a spare throttle rod (I guess that's what you'd call it) for my 240. This is the little rod that connects the accelerator pedal assembly to the rest of the throttle linkage, and it has a little ball and socket at each end. This is the piece that actually goes through the firewall and is covered by the throttle boot.... I was removing mine to replace the almost completely disentegrated original boot, and the plastic ball on the engine side of the rod snapped off in my hand.... If anyone has one, or knows of a decent place to source this little item, let me know?

Before anyone "sermonizes" (is that a word?) me for asking this question , let me just say that I've spent a fair amount of time searching the previous threads and came up empty. Intro; I bought a 72z with matching #s to use as a daily driver (I miss my z) while I take my time restoring my '73, after which I will swap cars:p. I started prepping the car to be driven by doing a valve job/head gasket. My problem is that I found the cam from the L24 was badly worn. I had the machine shop use an N42 from a '75 L28 (I understand this is very compatible), but this one also had a flawed cam. The machinist told me that his supplier could provide one designated for a '78-'84 L28. …

I just bought a 1977 280z that is 100% original. I was looking for a 240z, but I could not pass this one up. Can I swap the 280 bumpers with the 240?

Can it be done? I have a 260z motor that's completely dead, and a 280zxt that's being rebuilt as we speak. When I bought the engine though, it's only the long block, intake and exhaust manifolds, the AFM and the turbo ECU (and engine mounts). Can I swap over the 260z air cleaner to fit the FI 280zxt?

Hey all. I am changing an auto to MT. I have read Arne's Tech article and didn't want to hijack it with dumb questions. I have a few more things to buy but I think I'm getting close; however, I still need the fly wheel. Question, Will a flywheel from a L24 work or do i need to source another one? their is a 76 at the u pull it, but i don't want to pull it. :nervous: any disadvantages to this? I have 2 fly wheels from a L24 if they will work it might save me some cash. Am I better of buying a new one?

Does anyone know if 240 rear stub axle spacer sleeves are a different length than ones from a 280?

Alright - I've done some research on swapping z calipers with toyota truck calipers and it seems like a pretty easy worth while swap, particularly as my 93' toyota 4x4 truck just blow a head gasket, is too rusty to be worth fixing so I'm going to part it out and I just put new calipers on it about 6 months ago. My question is, from what I've read, people say to need calipers off eariler model trucks - does anyone know if this is true? From the pictures I've seen, the eariler calipers appear to be nearly the same as the later model ones. Suppose I could just try mounting them, be thought it couldn't hurt to ask and save myself the effort. Thanks -

I installed all my stuff off of my 71' 240 onto it, I have a 76' electronic ignition new wires and good plugs, also installed my headers, aswell as my dual weber carbs did all that turn the key and it starts not smooth like my old one but starts. The problem is if u give it any gas at all it stumbles and tries to die, half the time it will die but start right back up at the turn of the key. I have checked my timi…

I'm going to do a 5-speed swap to replace the auto in my '73. I found a '77 280 with a 4-speed at the local Pick-N-Pull and I took the clutch and brake pedals along with all the hydraulic stuff. I quickly checked my 240 the other evening and it looks like the pedal mounting is different than on the 280. Can someone confirm this. Do I need pedals from a 240 and not a 280? I hope not becuase it was a pain getting those darn things out !! Thanks
