Sorry, partially incorrect PATCON - don't know what the hell that is but I'm pretty confident it shouldn't be called a Z!

Were they noticeably loose?

rear clunking noise '76 280z
Glad the clunk is gone. I assume it was the strut nuts. A small amount of play in there can be tough to discern with gas struts and spring pressure helping hold things still. But if it went away with some torque on the nuts, I'm guessing that's what the issue was. The fact that it appeared gradually over time is still a little disconcerting. Are they nyloc style vibration resistant nuts on the tops of the struyts?

The factory radio delete plate on these cars is interesting as they still fitted an antenna/aerial. I know some cars in the UK originally were supplied without radios and there was a rubber plug fitted in the rear quarter panel where the antenna/aerial was fitted, but this car is a different kettle of fish I guess. The only thing I am able to assume is that Nissan configured some of the program cars like this so that the new owner had the choice radio/stereo. Assuming 26th knows? Also interested to ask with the parts replacement on this car namely the rear wheel cylinders, steering rack and suspension bushes, spark plugs, rear main seal and exhaust system, if this car is now considered as not as per original factory program rebuild specifications or if the above is considered as consumables, ie normal wear and tear parts that need to be replaced from time to time? Am I being too picky? Maybe everything apart from the exhaust system.

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
The door latches I used Tail light chrome pieces. They weren't very flat. So I heated them slightly to reshape them. I did cause some wrinkling in the finish on the one that was pretty warped. I probably should have sent them back and exchanged them but for now it's fine Bought some washer to hold the trims on Installed Some butyl to hold the lens in The center post of the chrome is supposed to be long enough to go all the way through the back and get another star washer. The posts on my repops aren't long enough for that. So hopefully the lens don't fall out Felts for the bottom lens drains Shop dog More Belmetric Lights in place Finishers Badges, because everyone knows badges make cars run better!! ;)

Datsun 240Z Ashtray Snuffer Plate Reproduction In Stainless Steel
Looks nice Chris - one of these and a repro trim ring around the cigarette lighter hole would complete my OE ashtray. Any chance of doing a stainless steel version of the ring insert instead of the plastic one you currently are selling? A group buy of either/both items might help with the shipping issue to the USA.

rear clunking noise '76 280z
Hi guys, I replaced the mustache bar bushings and re-torqued my rear strut insulator lock nuts. I didn't notice any play there when the springs were compressed. The good news is that the clunking noise is gone. Replaced the master/slave clutch cylinders/hydraulic hose. The old ones showed some internal brake fluid leakage. No more grinding while shifting into reverse. The clutch fork moves 12.5 mm (half an inch). The pedal is at 8 in, 15 mm of free travel before the slave starts pushing the rod. I searched this forum and someone mentioned that the 15 mm is a good number for a fork throw. I am guessing if mine was too short to disengage the clutch disk, I would have heard/felt it. Thanks to all who helped with the diagnostics!

Late 72 began the production of the 1973 Model Year. The Starting VIN series was HLS30 120001 09/72. Nissan didn't need the "late 72" data tags, because they did not use any 1973 Models for the Vintage Z Program. FWIW, Carl

Guy's wanting my 240
It's a small car! I will get some nose to nose pictures with my 240. That dealership is only a mile from here. Here's my offer of his for mine, no response yet but I'll leave that on the table for ONE WEEK!š https://www.nissanofgadsden.com/used/Porsche/1988-Porsche-911-bd11c7e8ac181b91072054cb1839c5ba.htm

Early 72 on left and late 72 on right. These are examples of the ID plates Nissan commissioned me to reproduce for the program. Begs the question - when did "late" 72 begin? About 4 or 5/72, no one @ Nissan were willing to stick their necks out more than that. However, my experience backs that up.

Both of those plates are for 72, so it wasn't the very early cars. Maybe the GVWR wasn't increased for the car itself... Maybe they were increased for the change in American drivers. š
