Steering Rack bushings . . .
Ya mine didn't seat properly till I torqued them in - then perfection. The coupler seemed to be a matter of jiggery/pokery but was possible with the rack in place (nipped alot of skin off my fingers though). End result was dramatic - I thought I had something wrong with the rack befor I did the bushings - when finished it was like a new car. Solid road feel, that was 7000 miles ago, still great.

Recmmondation for new clutch
I really don't need to upgrade, I am satisfied to get the standard performance. If anyone has a brick to throw at a particular brand - I'ld like to hear it. I'm currently thinking Least expensive OEM standard.

Who Still Makes 215/60/R14 tires?
The TAs are good buy - reasonable price.

Recmmondation for new clutch
Got to get my clutch done, starting to slip noticably in third. There are many types available and most claim to be OEM spec. A broad range of prices as well - don't want to throw away money, but would like to know I got a good product. I would appreciate a recommendation from experience on a brand - if there is a difference in the available products. :paranoid:

240Z bumpers on a 280Z
We suffer moderate to high winds (20 - 30+) about 30% of the year around here and the floating sensation in the front end on those days will compell a reasonable driver (me) to stay under 60 mph in a cross wind. Particularly frightening when you break out from a roadside stand of trees that was offering shelter, (alot of this island is wooded). I dont remember that so much with my old 240 (high speed float yes - extreme cross wind effect, not so much). But then again that car has a aura around it in my memories which may not have been there in real life.

240Z bumpers on a 280Z
The only reason I could imagine that one would want to alter the original setup would be if it affected performance. For most I don't think this would be an issue, as we don't travel at those speeds very often (without the attention of police), but I have read that there is a high speed stability issue associated with the 280 front bumpers. Sound familiar?

very poor looking 2+2 on Ebay
:dead: The Skull badge may be holding it together - that car has been played out. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if you been taken care of, you'ld still be with us.

2007 Z Fest Pictures
Zs look great on grass (walk on type) - very nice cars and photos. Like the wheels too.

240Z in movies
"Invasion of the body snatchers" (1978? version) - Donald Sutherland and his love interest are driving downtown early in the film, talking about Erwin Rummell (?) - They pass a Z on the left side of the street. I went back and zoomed - pretty blurry and the kids gave me greif, so I dropped it. Couldn't tell which year.

Let's see some wheels!
- Let's see some wheels!
Arne - I wondered about that and asked the original owner. He says the fins were always black, I painted the inner portion mostly because I damaged the finish when brush cleaning. Thanks for the info. Just got the lugs (Masseys) and centers (motorsport) in the mail today. Tomorrow they go on - I'll post a picture. I dug up some of the original lugs - they have floating washers swedged on somehow (attached), unfortunately only 14, so I was forced to buy new ones. The new ones have a washer/shank sleeve that fits the lug. Bartman - hot looking wheels and tires, looks tight - carefull on the bumps- Luck at the junk yard!!!
Hey Nizmozed - That's a little contradiction isn't it "I'm a law abiding citizen" and "I would have stolen it" - it can only be one or the other, stealing is against the law.- Luck at the junk yard!!!
Moonpup "public forum" I drilled out a post on this point earlier and erased it. My point was: asides from not being wise to post it, we (as a group/club) would condone it by not stating our contrary feelings on the matter. It's a good thing to get out in the open that we are opposed to this type of behavior, this string screams that point very clearly.- Luck at the junk yard!!!
"hypothetically" Thats a mouth full of s--t - Theft is theft - what if the car was parked "by" a junk yard for a year. Seemed to be abandoned and had a BRE oil cooler - maybe that would be ok too. I hope not but there's not much difference. I'm getting vertigo up on this pulpit, not used to the heights.- brake cylinders
Mine are the 77/78 type - it seems there are different types for 70-72, 73 - 76, and 77 -78. Only 77-78 are for either side.- Boy am I bummed out...terrible dyno results
Hey stick with a japanese 6 cylinder - 2jzgte: stock 320 rwhp. Check out 2jzgte, 240z on you tube to see a 240 eat a mustang (?) no question there about dyno results from a straight 6.- Is this a good deal?
I'ld buy it in a minute!!- New guy & 260 or 280...purchase advice.
First off welcome to the site. If you want a Z you will find one. I would look outside the 20 mile radius - there are lots of nice cars around, but you will likely have to travel further and spend a little more $$$. Good luck - Let's see some wheels!
