Engine stat sites or engine conversion sites?

Should I buy this z?
and this site has some good info: http://www.zhome.com/ look under "How To Modify Your Z Car For More Horsepower" http://www.zhome.com/rnt/R&T.htm#power

Should I buy this z?
these people who stick the v8's or 4's (yuck) in z's must have some efect on the weight distribution of the z. AussieZ and anyone else who has done so, have you noticed a big difference in cornering, etc?

240z newb
I think it is a 2L 4 cylinder turbo producing 230hp, it would be lighter than the L24 6 cylinder and it almost has 100hp more so it would fly (and sound crap)

Winter storage
D) is it a good idea to start the engine every so often or does this not matter?

Question for anybody who has done an RB conversion
What did you do for a radiator? custom built radiator? does the skyline one fit? did you get the z radiator core increased or just use the z one as it is? Thanks

Engine out through the top or bottom?
good to see ingenuity but a tree of all things! I thought I was dodgy using the deck support rails. It worked though I guess so well done.

Whoa!!!
Stange, Australia that has just about every type of deadly animal there is and just accross the ditch the one only deadly thing in NZ lives on the Australian side on New Zealand

FUEL Tank
Correct me if I'm wrong: '75, '76 have built in surge tanks, they fit into the previous year Z's, any latter model Z's fuel tank will not fit.

the Ultimate
I'm with Cuong Nguyen and DOCH on the RB26DETT. The hp range this engine can supply will meet anyone's needs on road or track (280hp - 1350hp) and the engine weight won't be that different to the original. Failing that I would go to an RB25DET which too could supply enouth hp for anybody's road use needs. In a 240z = lighter AWD would be cool, failing that a strong LSD of some sort would do. Lowered, hardened suspension Spend a few days at a race track and dyno working out the how much power is just right. as for body work, well, I'm sure someone will be displeased about this but:

Door latch
I have the same problem, spent ages trying to get it right but couldn't. I rang the local z parts / restorer guy about it and before I finish saying my "door doesn't shut properly dispite my efforts" he said it's screwed (gave me the impression this problem is not uncommon). He ordered me a new door mechanisum, the links and new door handle (couldn't just order a door mechanisum) $350NZD ($170USD).

Poll on Internationals
no objections, remember to put yourself as NZ this time
-
high-rpm stumble
Maybe there is a imbalanced part that at 5500rpm it reaches resonance and causes an oscillation (have I got that around the right way?)

Poll on Internationals
"SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE" is a bit too broard, at least give an option for New Zealand and Australia, there are a lot of us in this site

Will the Skyline crush the 350Z
I think the 350z will be superior compared to 85% of the skylines - faster than the gtx, gts, gts25, gts4, gts-t and gts25-t it will be slower than the gtr, well at least in the initial take off. The gtr has a superior engine but it is also a 4wd so it will loose a lot of the hp to the wheels and this might have some effect on the higher speeds. R32 GTS-T 0-100 in 6.3 (1320kg) R33 GTS25-T (1993) 0-100 in 6.2 (1370kg) R32 GTR (1989) 0-100 in 4.7 (1480kg) R33 (1995) 0-100 in 5.3 (1530kg) R34 (1999) 0-100 in 5.2 (1540kg)

Turbo just died HELP!
Turbo rebuilds cost a bit, not as much as a brand new turbo but more than a second hand one
- out of the hole

Money.......(the bell tolls)
So far I would have spent more and had my whole car acid dipped rather then spending 5 months with sanding disks.

240z Structure Strength
It has been mentioned the structure of the 240z is not as strong as the later models, has anyone had problems with this?

Getting more out of my Z
meant to say I already had the cams to take trples, the carb specalist said 30 - 35% increase in conjunction with the new cams. But I never bought them, spent the same amount on a 250hp RB25DET
-
Getting more out of my Z
an L24 with triple carbs will sound very cool at 7000rpm but the cost of them, ouch. $3000NZD ($1500USD) in total for some 42mm tripple webers, manifold, linkage, air filters, etc. which would only give about 41 - 48 extra hp.
-
Just got it How does it rate
Those don't exist over here so $100 is a great deal if you ask me

Heres a topic, engine swaps, Discuss!
another magazine had a 240z with a RB26DETT that was pulling 8.1 second 1/4 miles
