Is it possible that your V-belt is just worn out. When V-belts are old and worn they have a tendonecy to squeak and or squeal. Also, if the alignment between pullies is off, it will speed up the process of wearing out a V-belt. Just some food for thought!

What a beautiful motor..........if done correctly (as installed in an early Z with the proper chassis mods) I believe it would be one impressive Z. For people with doubts....remember the 427 Cobra! Like one of the TV guys always says..."Does anyone need a car like that......no, but would you like to own a car like that.....absolutely!!! Can you imagine the rush you would get?

Sweet looking units, for sure. I happened to purchase a set from Sparco that are very similar. Anyway, great find Seerex!

If money is your limiting factor, drop in a remanufactured L28 (probably around $2K). You can use all the accessories items from your current engine, including induction, exhaust, and trans. Doing anything else will up the $$$ amount. Also, if you decide to stuff a V8 into your Z, it's a good idea to do the chassis improvements necessary to handle the additional torque. If you are so inclined to do the V8 thing, you may wish to visit the HYBRIDZ site.

Vic, that's really funny! Here's one...."Never get into an arrgument with an idiot, cause they'll bring you down to their level and then whip you with experience". This one has a bleeper in it. (used on people who just won't shut up) "Speak where I f_ _ked you last....and if you liked it, don't say anything"!!!

Unbelievable!!! The cry babies are still at it this morning (especially, " What I say is gospel and I'm really good at insulting people", Mr. HLS30.com)....Now thats probably good for a few more inmature insults from are beloved Will. Get a life!!! Isn't Will such the shinning example of a mature and courtious member...we should all be so proud to be associated with him.......Oh, thank you Will for allowing us to be in your company!

280z...the typical whinner!!! Complain, complain, complain, but does he have anything positive to add that might possibly improve the stuff he's ranting about.....NO, of course not!!! I obviously do not have the compasion that some of the guys here have, so my advise to you 280z is....If you think things are so F'd up here in the USA...THEN LEAVE...move out of the country, take a hike! I'm sure we all can help out by raising the $$$ necessary for a plane ticket or a boat ride out of here! Whinners like you are nothing more than a burden to our society.............split...........leave...........dissapear!!!

Gotta love the words of wisdom from Mr. Happy (280z). Odds are, when you are older and your ideals change, you may find that you too will enjoy the taste of $^!#! By the way, do you realize how entertaining you are? Everyone likes entertainment.....keep it coming. Oh, and have a nice day!
  15. Gav, I'm with you.........I'll take the Cobra. It's got to be my all time favorite sports car....even my girl friend loves the Cobra! However, the next best choice is an early Z car!!!! I can afford the Z car. Someday maybe I'll be lucky enough to own a Cobra.
  16. I use SWEPCO gear oil in my trans and differential. Great stuff...visit their web site.

Carl is correct about the throw-out bearing collar! Just use the collar assy that is standard issue on the ZX trans. I believe the earlier collars for the 4 speed are shorter and won't work properly.

Dan, this is off the top of my head, but if I recall correctly the turbo oil pump puts out more volume than the stock unit not more pressure. If you do decide to make the change, be sure to follow the proper procedures.....setting the engine at TDC #1 before removing the old unit as well as installing the new unit with the oil pump/distributor drive indexed correctly. Purchase a repair manual if you don't already have one. Oil pressure can be increased via increasing the spring tension on the oil relief valve. Good luck and hope this helps a little.
  20. Wes, read the above posts again. Also, give your current insurance company a call and ask what is available. At 17 years old it may not be cheap. Good luck with your Z!

Marc, at 18 years old your life experiences are shall we say...LIMITED! And for your use of the English language, your mother should wash your mouth out with soap. I think the only point you have made is...that your a young angry foul mouthed kid. Ranting on in this fashion, especially on this site, leads to knowhere. Life is too short to run around with your panties in a bunch. Peace brother!

  23. When I was looking into insurance for my Z, I looked at both Hagerty and Grundy and at Farmers Insurance (my current insurance company) and found that Farmers offers a policy for an agreed upon valve and you could drive the car when ever you wished. However, mileage is limited to 5K miles per year....not a problem for me! Anyway, I was surprised to discover that the price for this policy was just slightly higher than Hagerty or Grundy. Additionally, by adding another policy on my insurance gave me a multiple car discount....making the slightly higher price almost a push. So, give your current insurance a chance to belly-up to the bar.....you might be surprised.

Carl, as one Z lover to another....relax and just let it go!!!

Carl, I appreciate the attention you are giving me, cause deep down inside I know you like me, but to debate a hypothetical situation bears no fruit! To be honest about your statment..."Would you have said the same thing if the election had turned out differently? I think not". Let's put it this way, I had total confidence that President Bush would prevail from the very begining! And IF the election had turned out differently, of course it didn't, I would have had to man-up and come to grips with the results and make the best of it. I think, as many do, its time to unite, Democrates and Republicans, as a country and move forward. Oh, it's a good day to be an American. Carl, you're still OK in my book! I respect a man with an opinion and it's OK to agree that we may sometimes disagree.
