1. I took the day and installed some of my NOS finds: Choke cable assembly, air cleaner, fuel rail, washer bottle, and am waiting for my NOS tire to arrive for my spare compartment. I have been wire brushing nuts, bolts, fuel rail, etc... for plating next week. I like having spares. I will be having black, yellow and clean zinc plating done. I pulled apart a rear bumper to send to be plated at Tri-City Plating in TN. I sent out a early AM/FM radio and a early AM auto search radio to B C electronics in PS for complete rebuild they should be finished in a week or two. I am hoping to get all of this complete before I start on the restoration of the 72 FJ40 I acquired this past spring.
2. The 72 has been refreshed at some point with no attention to detail. It is hard to tell if it is a quick patch up and paint or just someone who did not now the difference. The Mikuni's are nice but if they have been sitting and need a rebuild that can get expensive. I can not tell but they look like 44's if so unless the engine has some work on the breathing etc... that is a lot of carb. That being said it looks like the dash is not cracked and it looks like the Mikuni's are possibly a set of Datsun Comp with the Datsun comp intake, that is nice. You would need to see detail pics of the undercarrage, inside wheel wells etc...
3. I am surprised that the nut was not listed. Mike my CD will no longer load leaving me at a disadvantage. I just want to make sure we are talking about the same bolt. It is the chrome bolt (4 needed in total 2 on each end section of the rear bumper) that hold the ends to the center section of the rear bumper prior to bolting the assembly to the car.
4. Does anyone know the part number for the chrome carriage bolts that hold the rear bumper sections together? Thanks JLP

Is this event held in the same place annually or does it move? Where is it being held in 2014? jlp
6. The 240 - 280 is now the same part number and I contacted Courtesy Nissan (David House) yesterday and he said they were no longer available and ran a nationwide search and found none laying in stock anywhere. Thanks jerry
7. Carl, I did not know just how rare until Jim Fredrick said he had been looking for years! Yikes! This may be the part I don;t find. Thanks jlp
8. I am searching for a NOS speedometer cable part#B5050-N4701 Thanks in advance if you can help me. Thanks Jerry Purcell
9. The FJ40 is a true rust free survivor vehicle from the original owner in the deserts of California.
10. I am glad to hear that it is sold again. I am a little confused. I had made arrangement for a 26' enclosed trailer due to Bill telling me that my capped F250 superduty and my 18' open trailer would not get the job done. I received an email for Bill this morning and made him aware of where I was on 201. On first contact I asked Bill for photos of the car and parts and a list of parts and Bill told me he did not have computer access and could not give me a list or photos. He said that he was limited to emails from his phone. Then today I find that Bill has a facebook page with photos etc. I forwarded the page to a friend who's opinion on Z's I respect for a evaluation of the car and parts. I am waiting to hear back from his this evening. I am glad that someone else will take on this project to be quite honest, I am not overly interested in the low VIN I sold #29, but my son wanted to build a early rally Z clone. I can now finish my current projects, detailing my 72 and restoring my 72 FJ40, then look for a solid body for the clone project. Good luck to the buyer and I hope he keeps us posted on the project.

;)My NOS choke cables (correct with rubber boots) are on the way along with a NOS Air Cleaner, NOS Washer bottle, NOS Fuel rail, and NOS tire for my spare compartment. :bunny:Excited for having secured these rare parts.
12. I had a similar experience with my K&N cool air intake and filter assembly for my F250. I called to see if I could order some replacement fasteners for the corroded ones and they sent me a complete installation kit free of charge. That will make me a return customer!
13. My car is 110 red and you are correct it looks different in different lighting.

Good to know, I have 3 or 4 used switches in my attic. jlp
15. I am within 6 1/2 hours I believe. After talking to Bill he did not think my F250 with a cap and my open trailer would work out and suggested I rent a small U-Haul and flat tow the car. I am not a fan of flat towing on the Interstate. I have since acquired access to a 26' enclosed trailer. I am making arrangements just in case no one else steps up. I do not want to see this car lost but it is not something I am anxious to do at this point with my other projects. I do have some ideas what I would do with the car if I do acquire it. I am excited about starting the restoration of my 72 FJ40 this winter.
16. Nice Steve! This is much clearer than looking at the service manual schematic. JLP

My 1972, of which I am the original owner, has always had just the front BRE (Datsun Competition) style spook without the brake ducts, and it definitely helps at high speeds with the front end stability.

I am a 240Z owner and could give you some ideas on a 2.4 or could recommend the book "How To MODIFYY NISSAN & DATSUN OHC ENGINES 510 610 710 200SX 240Z 260Z 280Z" but I do not specifically know about the 280ZX. Someone on this site will have a wealth of information on the subject. Good Luck, Jerry Purcell
19. I am talking with Bill and am considering trying to save this project. We talked last evening and are going to follow up in the next couple of days. He said that he did have a couple of other interested parties. I have my 72 FJ40 as my next project.

I have very little knowledge of the fuel system on the 77, but it sounds like a sensor issue. Possibly a temp. sensor relating to the cold start enrichment system.

Their quote for a Z rear bumper is $400.00 including dent removal. Great price in todays market and they stand behind their work. I am getting ready to send them two rears in November.
24. I have attached photos for comparison of my reproduction water bottle purchased from Banzai Motorworks. I will also post photo's of my NOS bottle when it arrives. That should give a visual of the options out there.
