  1. My 73, 36 years, 8 months....
  2. Greg, Thanks... nice web site, never seen it before and it has a lot of neat stuff...
  3. I built the shield with what I had laying around the garage and to make another one I would have to go out and purchase all the materials which is not something I really would like to do.... however, nice touch in appealing to a fellow Texan.... you almost had me.....
  4. Dave, The engine bay is flat black...then waxed... it can get somewhat hot here in the summer which can last from April to Sept but this shield has certainly done the trick. If you look closely, with your x-ray eyes, you will no doubt notice both of your wiring harnesses. I cannot tell you what a great transformation they have made.
  5. George, This is what I did: Two pieces of aluminum which in between I sandwiched a sheet of header wrap. I then riveted the two pieces together. I have had no percolating problems at all. Photos should give you an idea of the construction and attachment.
  6. How I wish the 51 were mine.... unfortunately not.....
  7. Great site...great prices also but nice to see.... thanks Mitchell
  8. When it came time to replace my radio I was also very much concerned about butchering my center console and after much deliberation decided on this McIntosh unit which I think compliments the dash. As you can see, the pre-amp fits perfectly, the antenna switch was moved to the bottom left center console and the power amp is under the passenger's seat. All six speakers are well integrated and the sound is just simply magnificent. I kept the original radio, of course, and going back to stock would be an easy matter.
  9. I'd keep the glove box for what it's intended for... and, since there's not much space elsewhere to put "things" you will miss it when it's gone. Go for a decent pre-amp, amp, set up; the MSA speaker box with some high quality speakers and you will be delighted. I've got a McIntosh pre-amp in the dash, its power amp under the passenger seat, six component speakers and I can sit in the car all day just to listen to the music. Why you would need a remote in a Z is beyond me?????
  10. Arne, Great idea.... am trying to get on the map and can't seem to do it.... ZIII, 1973, 240Z, El Paso, Texas Thanks.....
  11. Well, in an informal survey done about two years ago in a similar thread we had: The Youngest member age 14, Ian, "Agemeansnothing" Oldest: Ken, 75..... Best Looking: Me.....
  12. Duffman, Thanks.... he's not only a great guy but a wonderful mechanic and now, although he is in Texas, he is further from me than when he was in Phoenix...
  13. Duffman, Gary moved to Texas???? Do you know where and if he is still working on Z's???

Adam, Here's are some picture of mine....MSA....
  15. Sound delicious is right.... plus they are bullet proof. Not bad looking either.
  16. Dave, Got the turn signal switch, what a beautiful job!!!! Works great and the switch looks new... Thanks much for the quick turn-around.....
  17. Filipe, Don't understand why you might have a problem with Tokico shocks. I have them on my 73, and the car lowered about 3 cm. The shocks/springs combination is just great. Best I have ever had on the car and I have tried many combinations. Here's a photo with 15 inch tires..... You might notice the 055 CD plates... spent many years in Portugal and absolutely loved your country....

If you're looking for a great battery, consider the Optima.... Have it in all my cars; fits the Z perfect and never do I worry about any possible leaks....
  19. Don't know what the quality of your water is in TN, but I have only been using distilled water in all my radiators and it has worked perfectly.....
  20. Just purchased a new, custom-made alternator bracket from Brian, a member here, (azcarbum). The bracket is beautiful, well made, and does the job allowing for easy adjustments of the belt. Very happy with it…. Thanks, Brian !!!!
  21. Actually, it depends on how many quarts of Slick-50 you intend to have in the crankcase and if you intend to install the Super Saver Gas Mileage Calibrator, Mark III device. However, if you install a large enough rear spoiler and get your self a decent size air scoop in the front this would definitely help. You might be better off, however, asking this question over at zcar.com, as that is where the experts are concerning this matter.
  22. You gotta be kidding me........
  23. Certainly looks like a well made product... (went searching for it as I have never heard of them... http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/dzus.htm) However, seems a bit pricey... Have you or anyone used them????
  24. As promised, at Auto Zone: the retainers are called, "U-Type Speed nuts" made by Dorman, stock number: 961-305. These are an assortment of sizes, 12 clips to a box, $1.42 a box. Screws are regular black trim screws also made by Dorman. Regarding the noise in panels, I have used a sound deadener (Second Skin) on all my panels (as well as the outside skin, of course) which is yet another reason I went with screws. The panels now have to support the extra weight and I felt the stock plastic rivets just were not strong enough.
