  1. Yeah, looks like there were a ton of good parts left on the car, Mally. The rear glass with vertical defroster also looks like it was still in good shape.
  2. Saw this one listed on Ebay in the Houston area:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1973-Datsun-240Z-Parts-Car_W0QQitemZ260373993832QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item260373993832&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Under the circumstances, I can sort of see why the seller would prefer to sell it locally, but when you are asking nearly $50k for a car that is in pieces, you are severely limiting yourself. If it wasn't for Nota280 starting this thread, the listing would have gone unnoticed except for the the people who view the Craigslist listing locally. Someone who is truly interested in this car and is looking to spend that kind of money would drive or fly in from out-of-state to inspect it, so why not list it on Ebay?
  4. After looking at the larger pics that Zbane posted, I agree with Enigma, the car is probably a very early '72 with a 1971 manufacture date. Along with the previously-mentioned console and hubcaps, there is also the AM/FM radio and the the cigarette lighter in the dash that shed even more light on the fact that it's probably not a '71 model year car. If someone is trying to get a premium price for this car why would they only list it locally? Why not list the car on Ebay so the entire world can see the car? And by the way, I agree, the gold paint looks cheesy.
  5. Yes, the console and hub caps have either been changed-out or it's actually a '72.
  6. From the looks of the cars in the background (Volvo, BMW, etc), I would have thought the pictures were taken in Europe somewhere and not in Asia. In fact, I got these pics from this French Z-car website: http://240z.free.fr/index.php?/category/20 (It looks like they have pulled a few pics from this thread as well!)
  7. Check this one out:
  8. Oregon sounds very much like a place we here in Colorado call "The People's Republic of Boulder". With its out-of-whack liberal, elitist ideas that government knows what's best for you and society. If I lived in Oregon, I'd be up in arms about all this legislation concerning what kind of gas mileage you get and what after-market car parts that you can buy. The gas pump law is just unbelievable and is indicative of how out-of-hand the state government has gotten up there.
  9. Yeah, and I have also heard that there are no "Self-Serve" gas pumps in Oregon, that its radical state government requires that every gas station have an attendant to pump your gas so there is no leakage, etc. Is this true?
  10. Here in the US, these bumpers are pretty common, but the shipping cost to the UK is going to be expensive. Also, if you want that look, you will need to remove the bumper guards and either find some chrome finish bolts to place in the holes or have the holes filled and the bumper re-chromed.
  11. Here's a '71 240Z in Arizona that looks to be solid and pretty much rust-free. At the time of this post, the car was at a little over $1.5k (see pics below). Shipping will probably be about $1k, but it's better to start with something that is solid than have to spend a small fortune on rust repairs. Since you're asking for our advice, I would say if you're looking for a solid 240Z, then look to either California (non-coastal) cars or Arizona and stay clear of any East Coast cars. My latest project is an AZ car and I 'm ecstatic about the condition of its rust-free body. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1971-Datsun-240Z-NO-RUST-ARIZONA-Car-4-spd-AC-more_W0QQitemZ330305008704QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item330305008704&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
  12. I had all my bumpers re-chromed on my 240Z projects by Denver Bumper Works. They do triple-plate chroming that is superior in quality to the original bumpers and their prices are reasonable. Here's the link: http://www.denverbumper.com/index.html

$400.00 each is an excellent price if there are indeed no cracks of any kind. Last summer, I sold a very nice one locally for $900.00.

Check out this "Blue Interior Kit" available on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Nissan-Z-240Z-OEM-Blue-Interior-Seat-Door-Panels_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a7Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem400026918990QQitemZ400026918990QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  15. Well, at least it's safer than the motorcycles you used to ride (or any other motorcycle for that matter)!

Not a bad price, considering the rear glass with the vertical defogger is worth about $200.00 by itself.
  18. Welcome, Shane. Here's a link to a thread that should help you, even though your car is fuel-injected. Post #8 by Carl Beck is particularly helpful and informative. YOu may want to do a search to find more info on fuel-injected cars. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22619

  20. I bought a new left front fender from a local Nissan dealer a couple years ago for the '72 that my son and I recently sold. The Nissan factory fenders fit so much better than the after-market fenders that are out there. At the time, the Nissan parts guy told me that the one I bought was the only one available in the country and he had it shipped from another Nissan dealer in California. If I remember correctly, it was just under $200.00 with my Colorado Z-car Club discount. The original fenders on my latest project are in great shape, so I have no need for new fenders. But just out of curiosity, are they still available from Nissan?
  21. You're right, the interior looks great! However, since the car has been sitting outside in the weather under tarps for over 30 years, the moisture has taken its toll on the body and the engine. It will take a lot of time and money to get her back in good condition. On the bright side, with only 19k original miles and the very nice interior, it will be worth it.
  22. Yes, I found out the hard way about this a few years ago and it's definitely cheaper to buy directly from Tabco.

I understand that Motorsport Auto in Orange, CA will send out your door panels and have them recovered in any of the original colors -even the rare blue, butterscotch and red colors. The only thing they don't do is provide and attach the new chrome strips-that's an entire different story.

DT, Just curious, how much did the auto carrier company charge you to have the car transported all the way from Phoenix to Montana?

Welcome! That car looks familiar. Was it a California car that you bought off of Ebay by any chance?
