  1. Is it relatively streetable? how far have you gone with head work?
  2. Curious about the stub axle? Do you only have one? Are they 260z stub axles or 240z? I'm after the 260z ones which apparently have more splines and are stronger.
  3. Hey Lachlan, I loved your car when I saw it in person and I didn't even see the engine compartment. :cheeky: I know you just went through the hassle of converting to manual so based on that I'd say stick with the L-series. You can get a cheap one from a wrecker give it a port polish, use flat tops and install a moderate to wild cam and she'll go alright. However the economy of the engine won't be great compared with more modern EFI and smaller capacity motors. Believe it or not I think an SR20 would be a cool swap. It's light can easily make good power and doesn't cost a packet, plus it's so easy to fit in . In all honestly I've been tempted to do something like that with my Z. Yes I'm very much like Ben a die hard L-series guy but to build a 300 + HP L-series takes alot of time/money and research. If you want drivability, economy, power and something light the SR20 is by far the best choice IMO. I think the RB20 is a waste of time and the RB motors are heavier than the L-series. RB25 head on RB30 block would be a good swap but your loosing economy then.

  6. Ahh ya got me yep that's me. Always scouting the Ebay for a deal . I'm thinking of an Arizona Wilwood Kit though rather than messing about with old 280zx calipers or R31 calipers. It may be expensive but for the added safety of quality brakes....well need I say more. I agree $55-$80 is probably reasonable for these.
  7. Ok when do raffle entries close? I think I'm willing to take a punt, gotta be in it to win it
  8. Ok I have a few questions. How much are the raffle tickets? If you win the raffle and your O/S will you ship the motor to the country of choice? Will it be a turbo or non-turbo L-series? All the best!
  9. I would be reluctant to pay more than $1000 for it based on your description. Sounds like a lot of work.
  10. Let us know how you go Nathan, I would be interested in the total cost and possibly arranging a group buy for a few guys in Australia so we can get it cheaper. :classic:

  16. Very nice. I too would like to know the situation with the guards, however I think Toecutter has already asked that question enough.
  17. Yes they look more like British SU's to me.
  18. Some people honestly. Good thing Zeds ate MG's for breakfast over and over and over and over.
  19. Hi mate, before it's possibly to late I'd like to add a few cents here. I had a 73 240z that to this day I regret selling and not attempting to fix the body up on. It had the typical under the battery rust that was quite terminal however I did a welding course and was too afraid to attack it with a welder. Instead I sold it and bought my current 240z which is great but has it's own minor rust issues that I will take care of after the mechanical stuff. I know it's alot of work but what have you go to loose by learning to weld on it? give it a crack you might suprise yourself. Anyway there's always two ways to look at the situation you would probably be better off spending the extra dollars and getting a complete car with minor rust. However as some of the others said it would be nice if you could save this one. :disappoin

  21. I'm not sure what's going on but it seems there is a fair amount of interest in these cars from people living in Kuwait. I remember a guy signed up recently and showed us pics of all kinds of Zed cars over in Kuwait being used for show cars, drag cars and whatever cars. S30, S31. I also know a guy who recently sold his 280zx to someone who wanted it in Kuwait and I think a 240k on ebay recently was being asked to be shipped to Kuwait by a guy interested in buying it. Who knows maybe early Zeds and Skylines are a big thing over there???
