Suspension Gurus HELP!!
Hi guys, I need a definite yes or no on this one.. Is a 240Z Track Control Arm, also called a Transverse link, exactly the same as a 260Z's or a 280z's? Mine on the 240z looks to be damaged and I have a friend with a 280Z arm he can send me.. Thanks....

What a way to deflate your ego...
Unfortunately these things do happen on a race track and we don't know the full story. Did he hit oil, was it mecahnical failure? If it wasn't a Lambo would we be more sympathetic??

What are the widest tyres for these rims??
Hi all, I have a set of 70's slotmags and stamped on them are these numbers 6.50 x 14 x 0.355 OUT. I am assuming 6.50 is the width of the rim in inches, 14 is the diameter of the rim in inches and I do not know what 0.355 out means?? Anyone know? If a set of 225/60/14 tyres can fit on a rim which is 6 inches wide then whats the maximum tyre width I can go for?? Also bearing in mind that I have the normal 240Z fenders with no extensions. Thanks..

what is this???
I have the same sticker, though I havent checked to see if the numbers are identical. I have been told that the E code number is a sort of seal of approval and the number 2 next to it means that its approved for the UK??? Others have said that the E specifically stands for Europe making the E code system just for European models.. again???? I havent been able to establish what is really true about this but just take it thats its some sort of approval code. By the way are you from England?

History on this Z?
This is how you attach a picture.. 1.go to the picture you want and right click on it.. you will then see a few options. 2.go to the option which is called "properties", you will now get more options, copy the link called "address" (highlit it and then press Cntrl C). 3.Then in the page you post into, at the top in the section called vB code you will see a button called "IMG". 4.Click on this button and in the box that appears it asks you to put in the url, just Cntr V to paste it in and your done.

History on this Z?
The black bonnet and red body paint scheme is synonymous to the race bred 240Z's that were being built in England in the late 1970's by Samuri Conversions Ltd. The most famous of the cars being "Big Sam". Maybe this is what you were thinking off?? Big Sam (Top) compared to Gav240Z's Z Pic (Bottom) Actaully big typo...oops... the paint scheme is more synonymous with the works rally cars Much better info, then I can ever provide on these cars, is located at Z home

High VOLtage!
I think the 78 Z's had an internal voltage regulator inside the alternator. The 240Z's had an external one. I am pretty sure this is what needs replacing.. If its overcharging it will ruin your battery as it will be boiling all the fluids inside it. Check to see if there is any white powedery residue on your battery and even more importantly on the body work. This is ACID and if its not neutralised and wiped off the bodywork it will cause rusting.

280zx
Alfa Dog what is a far better divers car?? It all depends on how you intend to use the car. The 280ZX is a luxury GT car and the 240Z is a no nonsense sportscar. I own both and when comparing the two I find the 280ZX 2+2 is a far more practical car and in my case a far better drivers car. As for the mechanics, they have virtually the same engine as a 240Z (L28 rathern then the L24). The Bosch fuel injection system requires very little attention unlike carbs do. I don't agree with the Ugly comment as I think the 280ZX shares a few of the 240Z lines, which I like, unlike the 350Z. I agree that the price of a 240Z will always appreciate more then a 280ZX but then again don't expect to be making a huge amount of money unless you already pay a huge amount for an early 1970 low mileage prestine example and expect to keep it for a very long time maintaing its prestine condition by driving it limitedly and wrapping it in cotton wool. Something also to bear in mind is that a good 280Zx can be purchased for much less then a rot box 240Z. Rogue Squirrel, if you do manage to pursuade your mum to get you a 240Z then congratulations but if not don't be too despondent as I am sure you will have just as much fun in a 280ZX which will definitely become a future classic.

280zx
Really sorry to hear about the bushfire, hope you and your family are ok and that insurance will pay for a new house. Now to the question of getting a 240Z or a 280ZX. If its going to be your only mode of transport and I'm guessing you are a young driver, i'd lean more towards the 280ZX 2+2 as I think it would be a more practicle car for you. It has plenty of room for all your friends to jump in (well not all of them). You can also all go on long road trips with a greater amount of comfort then you would do in a 240Z. Just a couple of thoughts.....
