Ah Mine is 1031, vented sides and a hand throttle. I guess that makes it an August/September 1971 car then?
  4. The panels I've been told are warped - this is especially evident with the hatch lid as at the top it's fine then at the bottom left it's sticking up half an inch and on the right it's fine. Where the hatch attaches on the right there are a few spacers and on the left there is one or two. The bonnet sticks up at the front right, down at the rear left, normal at the rear right and up a little bit at the front left. The bonnet flaps have that typical bow in the middle of them where people push them to close, and hte one on the left is a bit too far to the left. The doors stick out at the bottom but fine everywhere else... I think replacing the front left fender (my dad hates me saying that - he's anti-american ) might be the way to go - there are a hell of a lot of little scratches and it's been panel beaten in the past as the crease in the bodywork is a bit wobbly. I look forward to seeing your tutorial kmack! I guess I'll ask about it when I go quote-hunting next week.
  5. It's really no use... I say per-jo (not pewjo!) I say porsh (correct way to say it is indeed porsha!) I say Daywoo (some say dayoo) I say Jag-u-ah (some say jagwaa) I say Cob-rah (some say Co-bra with the o as in 'coke') I say ren-oh (some say ren-alt) I say Zed. And merc is short for mercedes, not mercury! While we're on the subject, anyone know the CORRECT way to say Murcielago? Using my Italian knowledge I say Mer-che-lah-go but I've no idea if that's right or not...
  6. By the way, that's not my car in the photos - thanks Silver72 (I think thats your handle..)
  7. HEHEHEHE Nah I got nothin
  8. 60 bucks for a couple of windshield wipers thanks but no thanks ZedRally mine is a 240. Although, after driving with the sun reflecting off them into my eyes I'm starting to see the reasoning in painting them Anyone got a digital camera and can take a quick close up picture of their 240z wipers?
  9. Well, original would be nice. I'm going to wait until I see another Z with original wipers and see how mine compare.
  10. the previous owner did that on the rear bumper - I stay well clear of steel wool! Really if anything they look TOO bright. I think they're just fine
  11. Hi I've got several spots of rust on my car (all exterior), a few nasty scratches and small dents, and several panels out of whack (probably the last owner's sandblasting job?) and I'd like to get rid of it all. Before I go to some panelbeating place, how much is this likely to cost? I've attached a picture detailing everything. With rust, why exactly do people insist on replacing with metal instead of bondo? I imagine bondo is much cheaper but if there is a logical reason for the metal then I will fork out extra for that. The panels are not bent as such, but rather they're warped. Can you fix that without having to repaint the whole panel? Most of the scratches are just that, and can be sanded down and repainted I think. The only place which might need some panel beating is at the rear, just under the numberplate. Also right up the front just above the tie-down hook it's all bent upwards - obviously someone thought it was a tow-hook It's a hard job being a perfectionist :stupid:
  12. I want to buy a can just to test it out and see how it looks... but it IS $15 a can  I've cleaned them up with some "metal cleaner" and they came out wonderful. I don't think they need anything!
  13. 1971 Australian build, please! Could you wait until November the 1st until you send it though, as I'm over my download limit at the moment
  14. I see... can you email me some? ( alfadog@bigpond.net.au )

  19. Aussies and always being right?! Look in the mirror you damn yank! jeezaloo just stating the facts, gotta go sheryl is yelling for me to feed the kangaroos out back !
  20. OK I might try that if they dont look too flash in bare metal. I've also seen some 'chrome' spray paint... might give that a go
  21. Is that paint?
  22. "thanks ken for the pic" The pic I took from the galleries as I dont have a pic of my own handy It's ken's car.
  23. OK so I used some ordinary paint stripper and a toothbrush and most of it came off nicely. They look like steel but I wouldn't bet on it. I guess I should just use some metal cleaner and see how they come out?
  24. In other words, the original way to say it! I don't know how it came about that Americans decided to say Zee, but I believe it was probably the same guy who decided it would be a good idea to drive on the wrong side of the road and call aluminium aluminum... to be different from the British Anyone know how the Japanese say it?
