Which Shocks? and Where From?
I need new shocks for my 1971 240Z and I don't seem to be able to find any in Sydney. I'm thinking Koni's or Tokico which seem to be the most popular with the rest of the club. What do you think? Other than Victoria British can anyone suggest a mail order supplier elsewhere in the world? Tokico don't appear to sell direct or even list distributors. KONI doesn't even list Datsun as a supported model and 240's are not listed under Nissan there either.

2003 F1 calendar
My philosophy on F1 is the same as I have for all other sports. I just want to see a good race/game. Over the years I have followed the careers of many F1 drivers - Clarke, Hill Snr, Stewart, Hunt, Mansell, Hill Jnr. Using Mansell as an example, many of his attempts at the F1 championship were spoilt by the domination of the McLarens driven by Senna and Prost so when eventually Williams get it right and Mansell wins the championship (1992) he does so earlier in the season than anyone else had done previously and the races won were done so convincingly but the racing was somewhat dull. There he goes again leaving everyone behind just like Senna and Prost before him and Schumacher now. Lets hope these new rule changes will help get the exitement back. For the record I'm following Webber at the moment. Hopefully if an Australian were to be succesful again we might get some decent TV coverage here. Not like Channel 9's so called 'live coverage' - "it was live when we recorded it" (apologies to John Cleese). One of the few things I miss about living in the UK is the proximity to all the circuits.

2003 F1 calendar
I'm just hoping the new rules will give us some decent racing again. Schumacher is brilliant without a doubt but the races have been sooooo boring. I used to sit up until the wee small hours of the morning just to watch the races live because I didn't want to hear the result before I had a chance to watch a video. The last couple of seasons I didn't even bother videoing them let alone staying up. Some of the Senna, Mansell, Prost, Berger tussles were fantastic. Mansell in particular was so good at fighting back from the back of the pack it was so much more entertaining. Maybe they should put the best driver in the worst car to even up the field. Schumacher in a Minardi - now there's a thought. He did a great job putting that Jordan so high on the grid in his first ever race, just like Senna in the Lotus many moons ago. The best race I have seen though was a Cart tussle between Mansell and Fittipaldi back in 1993 in the Cleveland Grand Prix - two consumate professionals dueling for second place and overtaking each other five times in the last ten or so laps - brilliant. The worst race I've ever seen was last year's Gold Coast Indy Grand Prix almost the entire race run under yellow because it was raining - ahh poor dears. Wouldn't have stopped Schumi das regen meister.

Zmefly...It's British Racing Green
My 2+2 was a slightly lighter metalic green (colour code #303). I'm thinking I might paint the project car that colour, not as common as red or silver which were the other options (haven't dismissed ferrari yellow altogether though). The new Jaguar F1 car is a nice green - a modern BRG if you like.
-
Look what I found!
I decided to go exploring some of the lumps and bumps in the bodywork of the project car and found this. Look how thick the filler is. Hope there's not too much more in other places!

L28 Turbos in Australia???
I've seen a couple of 280ZX Turbos but they're pretty rare. Carlos at Sportsclassic near Sydney had one for sale not so long ago.

Aussie power query
I have British SU's on my 240 and have no problems. I converted the flat tops on my 2+2 to hitachi round tops and still had some problems. I don't know whether the British SU's are better or not (although SU is a British company) but everyone seems to respond with great enthusiasm when they see them.

P90 Heads in Australia
Anyone know how 'rare' P90 heads are in Australia and what I should pay for one if I find one? Also, anyone tried the Brian Little (Dr Z) engine mods? Are they sound in terms of engine life? I want to give my project car some grunt but from the point of view of my limited knowledge I want to keep things fairly basic.

Aussie power query
Unless I'm very much mistaken, we got the flat top carbs that formed part of the US emission reduction system but that was it.

Cloth seat inserts
My 260 2+2 has cloth inserts that were installed as an option when the car was purchsed back in '74 from Castle Motors Sydney. I'll post some pictures later today if you are interested.

Besides a 240Z do you own any other Z's?
Can't get enough of that wonderful Ztuff.

77 260z parts car (must buy today)
I am using a 2+2 as a parts car for a 2 seater restoration and it is really coming in handy. The parts I don't want to keep I have been swapping with others for parts I need. It's working for me!

GW Bush Explains His Postion on Iraq
1) No we don't want to swap with Canada - its too bloody cold. 2) Who put Saddam into power in the first place? - CIA 3) Who was the head of the CIA at that time? - :stupid: Perhaps GWB is being being so aggressive at the moment because he realises that the US was late for the last two world wars and doesn't want to make the same mistake again. :cheeky: I think this thread has the potential to get out of hand. I hope no one is offended but what I or anyone else has written. No one wants war but I believe sometimes, as a last resort, it is necessary. If Saddam has weapons of mass destruction that he would use against any of us, or sell on to someone else who would, then the situation has to be dealt with quickly and effectively. If all of this chest beating is to create a smoke screen for domestic issues then he deserves a weapon of mass destruction up his arse. Australia needs to support the US because we would expect some reciprocation esp. if Indonesia decided it wanted to invade. If you think Cuba close to the US is uncomfortable - think about the largest Muslim population in the world a short distance from one of the longest (virtually) unprotected length of coastline in the world. Just my 0.0340592 AUc worth.

I HAVE to have these wheels...
Oh get some therapy please! Problem is, now my wife wants a set for her Camry (she used to make bears for a bit of extra income and our house is a shrine to the arctofile).

Z in a MOVIE!
There was a 240 in the awful Power Rangers movie (that actually was up for sale about two years ago) and I saw one get ridden over in the motorcycle race in Rumble in the Bronx.
