No problem I thought it was cool. I looked in all my local stores and haven't seen one. Bought 2 for $7.50 shipped off Ebay.

I agree texasz. All you have to do is realize what was available at the time and see how far ahead this milestone car was.....The car is still winning road races today!

What's another Z Bob? Car looks pretty nice.
  10. Anybody using this Nismo header on their stock 240Z motor? Are you running a resonator? Which muffler? Do you stay 2" from the collector out? Performance Header: 14004-S3070 Designed for square ports with 1 1/2" primary tubing, the header is a 6 into 2 into 1 design with a 2" collector. It is painted and I figure I would have it jet coated before installation. My '71 240Z's header is rusted and needs replacing. Thanks!
  11. A couple of reasons I guess. All my well to do friends had Z cars in HS (1976-1980). I road in one friends 260Z 2+2 quite a bit and another friend's dad had a 240Z. My first attempts at driving a stick was my uncles's '79 280ZX 5 speed. I have had quite a few sportscars RX7's, M3's, S2000 and finally a 350Z. My father in law's friend had an old '78 280Z that he was second owner of and he said he'd sell it to us for $1K. Car will eventually be my sons car. We have done alot to get it ready and still have a few items to finish. Car is just fun to drive and still draws attention. This Z lead me to purchase the white '71 240Z which I will eventually get repainted. This Z has been to the Dragons Tail for Zdayz and was driven home from its previous owner 2.5 hours. My dad still says he could have bought one of those new for $3500! I didn't want to be someone who always says this! The history of the marque and significance of the car is obvious if you drive one. Just imagine this car coming out in early 1970! Nothing came close. I have made quite a few friends who actually still race the 240Z. It still amazes me to see these cars still winning against much newer cars.
  12. Enough said. Wonder how many Z's he takes on per year? I assume he takes the car down to a shell then redoes what evers needed. Basically what was done with the factory rebuild cars. Are you refreshing a motor?
  13. Jerry, Exactly who I'd chose. Keep us up to date. I'd love to do the same with my '71 240Z. The seat covers came from Les and I bought all new blue interior trim panels from him as well. I have a brand new in the box '71 dash not yet installed. Really only thing the interior needs is the door panels redone. I am curious how you agree on a price for the work.
  14. Jerry who's doing the restore? What's your time frame? The Runoffs are second week in Oct. in Topeka KS.
  15. Does the chrome Nismo Header hold up as well as a jet coated one?
  16. Mike, CDM should be able to recover your door panels for you. I know they offer the service.

Greg's diff was overheating so he pulled in rather than damage it.

I am posting this for Greg. "We are having problems keeping our R180 differentials cool during races. Has anyone used a pump system with a cooler before? If so, let me know what type of pump to use and an approximate cooler size. Thanks in advance for all input." Greg Ira" FWIW, Greg ran the national at Heartland Park Topeka as a tuneup for the Runoffs to be held there Oct. 9-15. First time he has seen the track. He set a new E Production track record in the race but pulled in not to overheat the diff.

FWIW Greg ran the last national at Topeka this weekend. First time at the track. He DNF'ed but set a new lap record. Car should be strong at the Runoffs! Not sure what the issue was. I know he had gearbox problems on Friday. Now if he can get the car reliable...
