1969 / 1970 emissions decal
I'm in for a pair. Princess Ziesta came with her original hood - worthless, of course - but I don't see any evidence of an emission decal on what looks like the original paint. I wasn't going to put one on. I have been working on the trophies and goodies for the convention and have had quite the education in printing and etching graphic images. A repro of the decal certainly can be done. Let me know if you need help, Mike.

HLS30-00094 For Sale
Wow! Early NOS rear quarters! Woohoo! I don't recall ever seeing HLS30-00094 before. $28,000...interesting. I suppose if I ever advertised Her Majesty or Princess Ziesta I would say something like "new engine". Both cars had complete rebuilds. But $28k seems like a good deal and definitely worth looking at. Keep that collection going, Mike. I sure don't have a complete record of early cars like I do of Vintage Zs or Z432s. Interesting headers on HLS30-01222

ZCON 2010 July 28th-Aug 1st Nashville,TN
I know all about it, Frank. Sorry for the confusion but things were far worse a year ago. I suspect by Thursday, this should be resolved. Also, the convention hotel is sold out and we should have confirmation on another 50 - 75 rooms at the hotel across the street by Thursday. The convention registration is already over what the total registration was for the the last two conventions.

What is the hardest to find early Z car part?
Yea, there really isn't an "original 1969 thin style 5 speed wood shift knob" although I know someone who found one in Japan a number of years ago. Depends on what you mean by original 1969.

Overpriced? Your Opinion
I think it's overpriced. Heavily modifed which means to me that it could have a number of issues lurking. And no, it wouldn't have hatch vents when the vents are on the side quarters.

Mikuni Sizing Identity
My Mikuni manuals do not show wing nuts on the caps. The application #s are Z40-550 and Z44-550. No 50mm application is listed. Mikuni boasts and 18% power gain for the L28.

Was the site down today?
Don't let the red fool you. Her Majesty the 26th has been supporting the site for a long time. Princess Ziesta is a slacker, though.

71 240z Rotor tolerance
Standard thickness new should be 12.5 mm with a wear limit of 10.5 mm. Total deflection new should be less than 0.15 mm and parallelism should be less than 0.03 mm. Your 10.5 mm rotors are at their wear limit. They wouldn't happen to be the vented hat type, would they?

Which OIL is Best?
Enrique, Enjoy your comments as always, however it is the "reputable sources" that has me concerned. How on earth could this conversation be considered "reputable" without any reference (or worse, discarded reference) to what was originally specified? Your octane rating and tire size examples reference original specification. Why not oil? Throughout this thread there is mention of temperature and operating conditions. What is the reader left with, though? Some vague idea that this might be important, perhaps, but nothing specific enough to warrant further thought? Perhaps the answer to this poor fellow's question is; "go ask a reputable source because you won't find it here"!

Which OIL is Best?
Horrors! I'm certain that the individual who suggested synthetic oil probably uses Crisco as after-shave! I can't believe all you guys (and there are some experts here) are making suggestions without ANY reference to what the manufacturer recommends. Whoa! It is with distinct pleasure that Her Majesty the 26th offers this information from the engine service manual. This, of course, is from the 1970 service manual. Later issues may differ.

Please explain the nomenclature
During the last discussion of this topic with Carl, I realized that Carl is not recognizing the level of autonomy that apparently existed between Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. and Nissan in the USA. I say apparently as this conversation illustrates the condition. As has been pointed out MANY times, optional equipment was available from the manufacturer from the very begining of production however not in the North American market. The North American market (or Nissan in the USA) developed its own optional equipment which was finally published in a catalog for the 1972 model year. What I find significant is the way the optional equipment issue was handled outside the sphere of the manufacturer. And...how this relates to the issues surrounding Yutaka Katayama and his relationship to Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.

new here,,getting a 240z need help with vin
What your title says is probably incorrect if the VIN is "S30 101781". The serial number is six digits which leads me to believe the car is a Japanese market "HS30" Fairlady Z produced between October 1971 and September 1973. That particular model was fitted with the L24 series engine however the earlier model "S30", produced between October 1969 and September 1975 was fitted with the L20 series engine. I suspect an earlier "S30" model would have had a five digit serial number.
