  2. Mrs. Chino240Z & I watched some good racing at the Vara event this weekend at California Speedway. It was fun to watch a pack of Porsches trying to chase down Mark Belrose in his Z. He had a top 10 running car all weekend & made it up to 5th on Sunday until his brakes gave way from off a bank turn at about 120mph! Bolts holding rotor to hub broke, saved the car in the infield nearly missing a 60's Vett! What a ride! Anyways met a few other Z people there and saw alot of awsome cars. What a nice weekend for getting outside! :classic: Craig
  3. Sounds like a double SCORE!
  4. Most of us here are asperated (did I spell that right?) anyways. 2ManyZs is right about diagnostics are difficult with out running with some O2 sensors and software/computer to look and record what the car computer is seeing from the sensors. Sometimes mechanics will put in some new sensors hoping they will be replacing the bad one. Some problems are from a couple of small things combined to give you trouble and that makes things harder to find. Verify water temp / engine temp isn't running higher than it should. Which means the cooling system may need cleaning, thermostat weak. . . Again, save some money first and do basics, plugs, wires, cap, filters, injector cleaner treatment, this may save time for a mechanic to find the problem and time is money. I have a similar problem that I'm gona have to deal with soon with my fuel injected F-body Firebird it hates sitting in the heat & but loves the cold. Good luck yuppie.
  5. I too am edumacted! :stupid: This, I did not know, but the photos give a good lesson. Thanks sblake01
  6. Sorry Alfadude, You're right! I had 2 out of 4 Qantas spelled wrong, so I fixed em. Must have been laughin to hard with this one. :stupid: thanks
  7. Well, what is value worth? To me they have alot of value because I included the support from ZTherapy, the warranty, good looks of the SUs, Video included, the available mods they did for me, the phone time, I tapped into their experience and knowledge of Z-racing, oh and their new stickers are well worth SU-money!
  8. Qantas After every flight, pilots fill out a form called a gripe sheet, which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The mechanics read and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken, and the pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems as submitted by Qantas pilots and the solution recorded by maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident. (P = The problem logged by the pilot.) (S = The solution and action taken by the mechanics.) P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement. S: Almost replaced left inside main tire. P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough. S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft. P: Something loose in cockpit. S: Something tightened in cockpit. P: Dead bugs on windshield. S: Live bugs on back-order. P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent. S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground. P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear. S: Evidence removed. P: DME volume unbelievably loud. S: DME volume set to more believable level. P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick. S: That's what they're there for. P: IFF inoperative. S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode. P: Suspected crack in windshield. S: Suspect you're right. P: Number 3 engine missing. S: Engine found on right wing after brief search. P: Aircraft handles funny. S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious. P: Target radar hums. S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics. P: Mouse in cockpit. S: Cat installed. P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer. S: Took hammer away from midget.
  9. Here's that same kid at age 16, still hungry!
  10. That is a rare one! Good find! :classic:
  11. Av-gas is probably as expensive as racing gas. I am probably burning money too, but I use the Union 76 Cool Blue gas for track days. It is 100 octane, looks, smells and evaporates different than pump gas. Some 76 stations may sell it in 5 gal. throw away containers, but where I buy it, it's sold from the pump. It's about $4 to $5 frog skins a gallon, so ya, it ain't cheap. I like the results you get from this type of gas for reading the plugs and tailpipe, you can easily see different coloring (rich vs. lean) on the plugs compaired to standard pump gas. Good grade pump gas would probably be fine for daily driver, but for those times you want to smell different, perhaps gain a few extra ponies and play with your plugs? this 100 octane fuel is something to try.

  14. Right-On! MariaAZ. These Zs can be fun for a couple. Cindy incounters tough NutZ TOO!
  15. Okay, I emailed ya...
  16. When everything is back in place it's not that serious looking, and you can also now see the duct at the bottom. Yes the car needs to be moving for the duct to help, but then again this car isn't really doing anything else but moving! I don't know about letting in engine compartment air since you get enough exhaust fumes from any car infront and not to mention your own. I know after a long run there is a build up inside and with a helmet on it can be  I was trying several options to cut the heat and it did. Oh and yes you can coat rusty surfaces. That is one of their sales pitches. The jet hot coating makes them look fresh and new besides keeping the heat in the pipe for the heat scavagening benifits. They sent me a demo video before I had it done. I would especially do new ones. Good luck.
  17. Heat is a big problem and a bigger problem on a hot summer day! After loosing time and money sitting at the track last summer, I was determined to minimize the heat / carb problem ya know. Here is a pic of the heat sheild I cut from scrap stainless steel and bent it fit under the carbs. I have also installed a piece of duct from the open hole next to radiator support to flow air under the shield too. Now the carbs don't even get warm! I check them after coming in from a 1/2 hour of full throttle, not only is it not hot but makes working & tuning easy- not hot. It may not look original but it works. I have the jet hot on my Formula Firebird car headers and it works too. I will some day get the headers on the Z done too. But heat is not a problem any more. It would be to get rid of the wrapping, and make them last. If you coat something, besure you demand inside besides outside. heat shield.bmp
  18. Right now I'm in a friggin arguement so if I can't say something nice, better not say anything at all! Let's see there is no "smilies" waving the finger, so I'll just use this one ha ha ha
  19. Can you tell who's in the office as you pull into the parking lot in the morning?
  20. Hey 1 Bravo 6, Thanks for noticing something nice from So. Cal. All the people donate their time on these things. I once helped work on a float when I was a teen- as a good excuse to get out of the house. Party on the way & party on the way home! Now I'm an old dude, and we just look for the type of float Cindys work has, City of Hope Hospital. This year it was pretty good. This is one day I can be a couch potatoe in my boxers and ya know what they say "No worries mate!" Then later on in the day I go out in the garage and sit and look at the Z! But that is normal for all of us here, Right! :classic:
  21. And that my friend is a Z-RUSH, to walk away from a Vette or an F-body car in the turns!

  23. By the 3rd one you won't need the instruction sheet any more! But then again, guys don't need instructions RIGHT?
  24. Sounds like the perfect day!:classic:
