  1. Alright gang so we have a success story here - solid idea with the camera. The clip ended up indeed being INSIDE the support beam box and was a real pain to get out. We ended up using one of those cameras and a long piece of thick gauge wire to keep poking at it until it peeked its head out for a quick grab with the tweezers. I'm happy to report no more rattles and door locks that are usable now haha. Thanks for all your solid ideas per usual!
  2. Definitely true, I'm hoping at that point it will have rattled its way into somewhere accessible.
  3. The door card is off - thats how I popped it out to begin with. I think since the clip is $6 I'll just grab another one from Nissan instead of hunting with new hardware. Just so strange how it out right disappeared.
  4. Yep, I did with that but its tough to get everywhere since I haven't removed the window.
  5. I forgot to mention i tried that on both sides of the door (put a piece of paper between the magnet and paint and dragged it around the door listening for a click but still nothing. Are there any pockets in there where this could have fallen into?
  6. Here's a new one I bet. I bought new lock cylinders for my '78 and while taking out the clip that holds the lock in, the clip flew out and literally just disappeared somewhere in the door. I've been rooting around in there with a flashlight for the better part of an hour to no avail. I've tried knocking all over the door to hear a rattle and nothing. I've rolled the window a bunch of times up and down to see if it was caught somewhere but this thing has flat out disappeared. Are there any places in the door that I should look that might not be evident to someone new to the inner world of the doors?
  7. Gotcha, thanks - I'll put the bar on hold then
  8. Gotcha - I'm mostly looking for the rear one on the condition that it keeps the cabin flex to a minimum so my damn interior panels stop clicking. I tried putting tape and what not on the inside (definitely helped) but I was hoping/curious if a rear bar would put an end to that. Any idea if it would?
  9. Has anyone installed the front and rear strut tower brace bars (not sway bars)? I'm curious if this really changes much besides aesthetics.
  10. Thanks! I'll give it a shot and report back
  11. Hi guys, As I'm assuming for many of us, the foam in the passenger seat cushion is in better shape than that of the driver's side. I've done a bunch of research and the jury seems to be split on if the seat cushions can be swapped between the two seats. Has anyone tried/had any luck in swapping them? -chase
  12. Any idea where I can find the snaps that slide into the vinyl trim piece that goes over the rear wheel arch? I believe these are the same snaps that are used to hold the door card to the door metal. I attached a picture of the one remaining one I have. I can only seem to find plastic rivets for the hard plastic panels but not the snaps . Anyone have any ideas?
  13. Gotcha - makes sense
  14. You've probably hit the nail on the head - the terminals definitely aren't brass. I'll put some of that goop in there and hopefully that will be the end of that. Why would putting a non-trivial amount of that in each terminal be a bad thing btw?
  15. Thanks guys I just checked and the majority of the terminals in the cap have at least some form of mild corrosion going on (but no melted terminals). The cap and wires are only about 6 mo nths old - why are they corroding so quickly? I have a tube of Ox-gard - should I just fill each terminal on the cap up with this and pop the connectors in?
  16. Are you thinking it would be a connection in that vicinity or just somewhere in the loom?
  17. Hi guys, My distributor cap's center connector rubber bit seems to be melting courtesy of the HT wire from my spark coil. Is this commonplace, or is there something going wrong here? The car runs perfectly fine and only noticed this by chance...
  18. Dude that is a great idea! Can't believe I never thought of that. I'll report back.
  19. The bolt goes from behind the door, through the drilled hole, through the rubber gasket, and into the threads under the stand like in the picture. It just seems needlessly complicated. Do you remember where you got the mustang mirrors you have?
  20. If it's that tough, I may just send them back unfortunately.
  21. Its the hex head on the chart
  22. Hi guys, Not sure if any of you have tried installing the MSA bullet mirrors (https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02e02/50-1178) but I'm having a bit of trouble here. They mount by way of 2 bolts with their hex head facing the inside of the door (basically the mirror is installed such that the bolt sandwiches the door between the mirror's threads and the hex head of the bolt which is located under the curvature of the top of the door. This seems incredibly difficult to install as you are basically holding the hex head inside the door and hoping you can find the threads of the mirror blindly so I'm figuring I must be doing something wrong. Anyone have any experience with these?
  23. Awesome. This is a huge help - case closed
  24. Actually hold on, isn't that dimple on the retainer ring and not the fuel sender unit itself?
  25. great to know - I'll go give it a look, thanks!
