Steering rack "refreshening"
Depends-this is what sets the allignment. The only way to get close is to measure the distance before you take the assembly apart to begin with. The threaded rod will rotate without dissassembly, that is how the allignment is set by a shop-loosen the nut that endjambs to the tierod end, and turn the whole rod, titghten the rod when the distance is correct-the FSM gives the alignment procedure. fuel rail extrusion cross section
This shows the cross section of fuel rail stock-yes I was too close for the camera-but the measurements can still be read

What does this thing do?
It is named as a bleed off container for the fuel pressure regulator, but it could also be used as a fuel accumulator for adding efi to a carbureated engine-the carb fuel pump at the tank pumps fuel into this container, then an efi fuel pump pushes the fuel to the injectors, and the excess form the FPR is bled back into the tank. Carl! Carl! You've been wanting a job-here you go! Too bad I am in Savannah, Too far away to transport everything

low tech high tech ????
Eastwood sells panel adhesive and tools to do just that. I considered it as a way of replacing door skins, just cut off the old one and glue a new one on. As sticky as diaper goo is, I am not sure it would make a good pannel adhesive :stupid: ! How is that youngster? Will

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
Carl, I would hate to feel that I have deprived you of merging your secret love of the Ford Pinto and your well documented love of the 240Z by taking the very wheels you have obviously saved all of these years for your own car ! While I appreciate the jesture, I simply could not accept a gift you treasure so much :stupid: ! Now the Rewinds you bought to use to keep the Pinto wheels pristine, well, that's another story ! I would be happy to accept those wheels, I would even send you a set of western mags just to make sure your beloved Pinto wheels didn't have to speen too much time on the street when the weather was bad, and the babes weren't watching :rambo: ! I know the patern is right there :cheeky: ! Will

Fuel Rail Suppliers
Sorry Tomohawk, somehow I missed your previous reply until now. I will take some pictures, and find the link for what I ordered from where in the next day or two. Did I ever send you a CD of my research photos? If not, PM me your address, and I will. The fuel rail stock was fairly inexpensive. I bought enough to make 4 rails(one for each of my projects) I have made up a steel barstock template for marking, and my rails will be machined to take o-ringed Ford injectors. TomoHawk, think about what you want, and PM me with it, When I set up to make my rails, I'll do one for you at the same time-if I can do what you want. Will

Steering rack "refreshening"
it came out of the smaller of the two seals, on the second one, I just watched for a movement in the boot, and stopped before forcing the grease out. Will

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
I knew it a closet(dare I say Garage) pinto fanatic! That explains a lot...Ooh-now I understand about the sheep and the motorbike! Nissan already had a winner, and diid not have the luxury of hindsight, they didn't dare fix what Mr. K. broke for them... Will

Steering rack "refreshening"
I filled mine to the point moving them around would force grease out, and then wiped off the excess-don't want to attract dirt to the area. Will

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
It's Ok Carl, We all know you secretly administrate at www.fordpinto.com! I must admit it is very unlike your persona here to hide and make excuses for it thought! :disappoin Ok my vacation from reality is now over! I think the 240Z was simply "clearly the superior product", and Nissan did what most companys do: If it is working don't fix it. We have 4speeds, they are buying as many as we can turn out, and you want us to make a change? When we run out, or the price of five speeds drop to equal or less than four speeds, then, we will do something different. I don't think anythiong was irrelevant except the seemingly forgotten fact that what was done worked better than anything else to that point! That said, I am glad several of you are educating NovaSS, and the rest of us about his car. I am in the same boat with 26thZ. WIll

L.E.D Solutions for dash and other LIGHTS?
I really didn't come up with this conversion to replace lightbulbs. I wanted a better answer to even light distribution, and the electrical short commings of the car relative to viewable parts(Keep the original alternator, fuse box, and wiring). I would have given up on the electrical part earlier, but the even light distribution really has me by the short hairs. I want my lights to be uniform and devoid of point sources. Will

Re-assembling my '71 Z questions
Lay them out on a sheet of notebook paper as they are removed(at dissassembly) label the sheet, take a picture and dump them in the bag. The 8.5x11 frame size, and the lines on the paper make sure the photo will have good detail and an axcellent frame of reference for later identification. also gives a great before and after for the notebook! ALUMILITE casting resin
The tire is a bit much fore me! The weatherstip would definitely be a challenge, but someone probably already has it. The other pieces could be done with a sample to cast from, or at least a better idea of what the part does(the seat part). Will

ALUMILITE casting resin
In progress: 1) Interior light lens-got to get the right material-led use fine, bulb use no-I want one product that does both! 2) Trims for the taillights(chrome piece in the middle). 3) Series 1 complete Ashtray assembly-exploring the trim ring for the lighter socket. 4 and 5) Consoles for series 1 and series 2-exploring a source for series 2 trim ring 6) Map light housing. 7) Series 2 fuse box cover. 8) Special projects-parts that look like they belong, but didn't come from the factory! 9) Auto Shifter Plate. 10) Eds gromitt. 1,2, and 3, are really close to being ready to send out for evaluation. probably some time next week-waiting on materials for a final cast or for one last mold correction. 4,and 5, are waiting on a vacuum chamber of enough size to accomodate them to see if the frames I have made for the molds are strong enough-probably a longer wait. 6,7,8,and 9, are waiting for mold materials to allow me to correct the molds for the first(and hopefully the last-probably not) time. 10) I pulled a pretty bad of sample of the gromitt Ed needs form a '73 day before yesterday, it needs quite a bit of work to be complete enough and strong enough to serve as a basis for a mold, but I am moving it into this group to get it ready for him. Planned: Seatbelt mechanism boots (the rubber covering on the recievers). Auto Shifter handles. Emergency brake handle grip. Hood pull. Improved a/c duct work. Series 2 Ashtray pull. Radio climate control faceplates for pre 73 and 73-faceplatres only! Special projects that look like Nissan designed them for the car, but Nissan had no idea!. What I am doing is finding the best quality parts I can to mold from so that there isn't a great deal of "correction" to do to the mold. This "correction" has been by far the longest part of the process. I will not duplicate any parts that are already out there or still available(to my knowledge), unless they are just way too high to buy, or too difficult to find in great shape. I am also working on a couple of other suprise parts that Nissan never made, but I think most of you guys will love! I will send one or two out to members here and let them start a thread on how stupendous or stupid they are after having a while to look at, hold, mount, and live with them. I hate getting all excited about a purchase only to find out it really wasn't ready to be sold yet. Once again, I want the most anal among us to be satisfied. I should be ready to send out some pieces in a couple of weeks-before I start getting PMs, I have already picked the people who will be "reviewing" the pieces, and I will ask for their participation before sending anything out. L.E.D Solutions for dash and other LIGHTS?
Typing too fast, with too little attention. My thought was 1 series of leds for the whole car to make the illumination consistant. Will

L.E.D Solutions for dash and other LIGHTS?
I haven't been comparing side by side, I have been looking at just the brightness with leds, so far the best coverage takes about 200 leds per combination light(240Z), but with the new direction, hopefully that will drop considerably. I did say I want even the most anal among us to be satisfied! Will

Don't feel too bad, went to the pick and pull on a friday afternoon found a low mileage '83ZXT with a head and an oil pump, and instead of jumping right in, I waited until the next day, got there when they opened, just in time to see the cart in the jaws of a portable crusher! I got to keep the $25 that I would rather have traded... That was stupid...never again... Will
