Storing Emrty Fuel Tank
That's a great story! Before going on vacation I wanted to put my KX80 inside my Mom's upstairs apartment. Never considered the perpendicular railing that met me at the top. One of the dumbest things I've done so far. I was 13 then and close to 50 now so I'm sure they'll be more to come.

New member, anything I must know?
The most popular sports car ever, Porsche 911, has back seats but just try and get anyone back there. They are best, seats folded down and used as a rear deck IMHO.

1973 Rebuild
Can't remember the number of grams off hand but mine were all over the place. I ground the underside to get them all the same weight before sending them to Delta for resurfacing. Luckily they all weighed the same when they came back. Happy with that but they sit in the box still, life reared its ugly head but I'm going to get it put together this winter after I shine up my valves. My Dad told me about shining up the back side of his valves back in the '60s. He also told me, and of course I played dumb, to grind all the casting marks off the runners and smooth them as best I could. That will be much easier today with a Dremel and the flex cable attachment. He used a rod wrapped with rough sandpaper back then he says.

SU Hitachi 2.0mm Needle Valve Assembly
Seeing how the '72 float adjustment thread went on forever a month or so ago Mr Potholez and I went with private messaging. Much easier to stay focused. I just thought about a solution that @madkaw did with his front ears so they'd match the rears. He drilled the pinholes higher to match the rear lid and as I remember, it worked great for him. Fortunately I had a spare set and run two rear lids on my current SUs, no drilling. It pretty much turned them into the earlier style 4 screw SUs. @hatepotholez

Where is the Fuel Vapor Check Valve Located
My Stihl has a two hose valve at the top of the fuel tank. The cap seals so tight I can run it and my weed whacker upside down. I took it apart and cleaned that release valve and it's all good now. Don't lose any sleep over my comments. The nice rape kit with chewing gum and Tampax still has me laughing. I must admit I did not see Greg's post on the MacGyver kit. Sorry Captain. You know me... Edit: for the rest of the forum I will move to PMs. I am twisted in my thinking and 99% are not. Thanks you other 1 percenters!

Where is the Fuel Vapor Check Valve Located
Fumes from all the bouncing would be my guess? Like shaking a beer before handing it to your friend to open. EDIT: My reasoning is my backpack blower. The check valve that releases the fumes from the fuel tank got all clogged up after a few years of use. I used it one weekend and the next time I go to get it fuel was dripping out the air filter compartment, filter was soaking wet. The pressure had built up so high it pushed fuel backwards through the carb then through the filter. Until I figured it out I would loosen the fuel cap after each use to prevent the leaking. My experience only, I'm no mechanic just a guy with a computer and some figuring out sense. Thank you Dad!

So you ARE NOT the one on thesamba.com with the VW?

All brains on deck - an unusual problem
Is it possible the coolant line between the two manifolds could be the culprit? That's the only thing that connects the two from what little I know. The spacers have more holes on the later 240s too. That slimy octopus is falling pretty quick off the wall now.

All brains on deck - an unusual problem
Yeah! Hold one at a time and see how much pain difference you get. Jorge

Z31 N/A RB project
They won't tell you? That's pretty shitty.

All brains on deck - an unusual problem
What about disabling each carb, let it run at idle and see what the plugs look like? I can't stop thinking those two aren't getting fire like the rest. Maybe try a spark test in the dark or low light on each one? That petronix system is something I know nothing about so I'm throwing stuff out there. Alabama game is boring.

Misfiring while cruising
I feel bad about saying that, I'm truly sorry. I had a Porsche and remember post from a guy in Panama that went by a very similar username as you use on here. Had a '60 VW Beetle. That was 10 years ago at least. Are you Jorge Alex or Jalex? Again I'm sorry if I've confused you with another person.

Misfiring while cruising
Some more "complaining" and "bashing". How did he get here from "Misfiring while cruising" by letting the car idle idle for 20 minutes? I like Marks comment on kicking the shins. Very entertaining post to me so thanks jalex, please continue. The guy that started the thread fixed his problem on page 1. Now it's on page 6.

Misfiring while cruising
You should read his thesamba.com post. Mirror of classiczcars.com Very insulting to those who try to help.

Dielectric grease is good also on all the plug wire connections, IMHO.

Misfiring while cruising
The internet searching is what's hurting him in my opinion. Stay focused on each issue. We've read weather stripping to u-joints and differential mount issues, cam and idling for 20 minutes back to spark plugs soot. Your all over the place. Sorry Jalex but common sense is called too many irons in the fire. You should ship your car to the States, Datsun Spirit would be my choice if I couldn't help myself.

L28+(maxima)47 build
I don't like that OZDAT either but for another reason, too complicated for me. I like this one, http://www.240260280.com/legacy/techtips/calcs/engine builder/index.html ozdat has block height at 207.85 240260280 has 207.87 Looking back at those numbers I made a mistake apparently because it seems bassackwards now??? I'm not the shiniest valve in the head.

alternator rebuilding-78 280Z
I appreciate you spending your time enlightening us, at least me, on this subject. I just had an ordeal with an alternator replacement for my Mom's car, post #5. It's interesting to hear from a guy who knows and sad to learn also that it doesn't happen concerning the pre-testing of alternators and starters from the store before final sale out the door. I know I'll tell everybody I know to get them tested before leaving even if they need to wait until someone is available to do this. I see it every time I go in how understaffed you guys are and the phones constantly ringing. That's one thing that really makes me mad though. I am standing in front of their counter and someone sitting on the couch calling gets priority over me. But "if them's the rules". Thanks John!

Please Clarify: 70-72 Bumper Brackets on 73 cars
Yes, rubber between bumpers and paint front and rear. Good addition Diseazd. The chrome bolts were hard for me to source so I took a suggestion from RossiZ and bought stainless and buffed them up to a high shine. They still look good after two years.

I use this with good results. You might want a higher SPF though?

ZCON 2018 Roll Call
My attendance is questionable now that a "bucket list" item has come up. Houseboat trip to Knoxville for Bama vs Vols game. It's a tough decision for because 1. reservations are made already, 2. I want to shake hands with some guys I have great respect for but have yet to meet, 3. three couples on a two bedroom boat for four days (three girls on a boat with one bathroom), 4. three drunk boat pilots. Run during the daylight anchor down at night. Positive side, three drunk best friends going to an Alabama game at Neyland Stadium on a boat. Decisions, decisions! My life is tough.

Lash pad fell off top of valve spring
That sounds better to me too, now that I'm looking at it on my laptop instead of a small phone. Thank you Lumens!
