  1. Another thing they haven't done is get some decent U clamps. They don't come with lock washers and as you can see from these pictures they rust like hell. Aluminized premium exhaust with cheap Chinese metal U bolts, WTHell???
  2. I have some pictures of mine and I hope they will help but if you got the wrong part number system, and they're different, I hate that but it happens from time to time. I know it's a pain in the a** but I just moved mine around until it didn't touch anything. Whether it's right or wrong by the instructions I have know idea but it does not rattle or touch anything on my '77 280. Hoping for a good result for you! This didn't work out as good as I thought. Let me know what pictures might help and I'll get them for you. I tried posting too many photos this time and got a little F'ed up.
  3. Welcome to the forum. I had a friend with #307 Pacific Blue, white interior too. That'll be nice in the hot Florida sun. Bookmark this page, it has been the biggest help to me and many others with a '77 280. He did all kinds of stuff to his '77 and took the time to photograph everything and detail the work in a way anybody can understand, even a simple minded person like me. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/
  4. I apologize for not getting these to you sooner and I still can't get a current picture, these are from 2012?, I've been away from home and my laptop. After looking at these shots, my 280's muffler is more like 10 and 4 o'clock looking from the rear. Hell it's almost flat! I'll get under there and get some pictures of the bumper mounts and how close they are Saturday morning. It's also backwards from my 240, the outlet is the center hole on the 280 but i did not go by any other pictures or MSA recommendations, I fit it the best way that I could. I do remember the mufflers were different though. The early one said Dynomax and it seems it was a little bigger, the last one I bought did not have Dynomax stamped in it and it went on best with the outlet being the offset hole towards the ground. That's on the 240. Joseph's is the one that puts out fires, he apologizes daily I'm sure so at the worst if you take it to a muffler shop and have them get it tucked in Joseph would make it right somehow, credit or a free shipping coupon. They have always done the right thing for me.
  5. I noticed that to. My 240 cut out is a lot smaller than Phillips red car and the MSA black and white. I'll look at the 280 tomorrow and snap a picture. I'm thinking it's bigger too.
  6. My '77 does it with EFI. '72 with carbs doesn't. Both have the 6 to1 header with 2.5" exhaust. Something fun to do (for me) is lower gear drag down the backside of a mountain, it sounds like a shooting range.
  7. I use magnets instead of tape. There's so many on there now I fear the fan is going to stop rotating.

  9. How thick are those vented rotors? If I wanted the "hollow" or vented rotors would I need those Wildwood calipers? Thanks!
  10. That's leather interior right? Car should sale just don't get in a rush. It will find it's next owner.
  11. Hate to keep bugging you but my memory comes and goes. I had to cut the top hole or two off the rubber on the rear hanger to get it tucked up in there. It wasn't easy either, I cut it with a hacksaw.
  12. This is an older thread but if you want Weber 40's I'm thinking of selling mine with a Cannon intake. The SUs are fine for my old arse and keep up with my mods plus I still have the mechanical fuel pump. They'll be on ebay soon and I'll post the link.
  13. Sorry it didn't work out for you. It was a major PITA to tuck it up nicely, many cuss words and beers plus the use of every spare tire jack that I had to hold it in place. You could run by a muffler shop and see what they'd charge to tweak the muffler. It shouldn't be much, you've done the hard part already. The sound makes up for the small stuff, in my opinion.
  14. Yes, sharp car. I don't think you'll have trouble selling it, there's a lot of young folks looking to buy their first Z and that would be a great one to start off with. Do you have it listed on our classifieds also? Best of luck.
  15. They keep it kind of hidden in the description. Application Note:For coupe models only. Please call for 2+2 options. Installation Note:Oval performance mufflers should be positioned at an angle for a proper fit on 70-78 Z cars. 18. Jeff G told you that about a year ago.
  19. Hold the phone, I was backwards. The centered side should connect to the S pipe. The offset should be at the bottom of the rear side. Still angled 1 to 7 though. Sorry about that, it's confusing as hell.
  20. Actually 1oclock is where the S pipe connects and it should tilt like 1 to 7 looking towards the rear of your car from the front of the drivers rear tire. The output is centered. That's how both of mine worked out after a lot of reading (mostly looking at pictures). I can post photos when I'm home with my PC, tomorrow morning.
  21. My muffler slightly touched the underside of my car, rattled at idle only. The offset should be at the top of the muffler where the "S" pipe connects.
  22. His fusible link for the pump maybe about to burn in half, or need the terminals cleaned.
