  4. @sweatybetty I have a quick question for you. We are painting similar color Datsuns and I have a little trash in the base coat. Did you sand any of that out before you cleared? Did you respray based or just clear over the light sanding? Since the color I am shooting is not metallic, I would think a little light sanding at 1000 grit wouldn't hurt, but I hate to experiment with expensive paint
  5. No worries Cliff I have a diesel F250 and it wouldn't charge. Auto parts store checked and alternator showed bad. Changed it still no charge. Changed it again still shows bad alternator. 3 bad ones in a row seems really unlikely. Took it to a local auto electric shop. Turns out there was a bad connection to the bottom of the battery post from the alternator. Had arced enough to prevent charging. Wasn't visible from the top
  6. That is not always definitive. They failed several alternators in a row on my truck. Turned out to be a bad terminal connection...
  7. One on ebay complete intake and turbo. Not real cheap though http://www.ebay.com/itm/Turbo-Manifolds-Datsun-240z-260z-280z-Nissan-Fairlady-Z-L6-EGR-Intake-Exhaust-/332194262573?hash=item4d58522e2d:g:EOQAAOSwVm5Y~pQO&vxp=mtr Keep your eyes open on ebay or craigslist or post a WTB on classic z car or hybridZ you will come up with something. The after market manifolds I have seen are really expensive like $800 and above and can be prone to cracking. Factory manifold is the path of least resistance Maybe its not such a bad price, these two sold for almost as much as they want for the whole intake and exhaust setup... http://www.ebay.com/itm/81-83-DATSUN-280ZX-NISSAN-TURBO-TURBOCHARGER-L-28-L-28-EXHAUST-MANIFOLD-OEM-PART-/222456037529?hash=item33cb69c099:g:uHUAAOSwuLZY2-6L&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-280ZX-Turbo-manifold-240z-260z-280z-/332146164870?hash=item4d55744486:g:hRYAAOSw4A5YvOF4&vxp=mtr
  8. Finding a clip might be a challenge...
  9. Why do you want an aftermarket? The stock exhaust seems to flow well enough to make really good horsepower...
  10. Very true, but we love having visitors...
  11. Also check any of the rubber boots at the intake for leaks. Major vacuum leaks and the low fuel pressure will make the idle very weak...
  12. My biggest problem with most of these policies is they want the vehicle garaged and I really don't have a spot to keep a car inside...
  13. Intake or exhaust?
  14. $602 !!! Wow, that's stout!

Wow! Ok we have a project! Gonna need some parts. Might want to learn to use Google Chrome and shop Yahoo auctions in Japan to source some of the right hand drive parts
  16. 16,250, That's a good price. They used red on the suspension bolts instead of yellow... Still that seems like a good price. Has hand throttle too...
  17. Good looking car...
  18. I realize that body color is really the correct method but I went black because I didn't want to see bright yellow from the wheel wells around the black tires. Final body color might influence the decision. A darker color in blue or green, I probably wouldn't have bothered
  19. I have the Kevin Tetz "Paintucation" videos and they are very good. He also has a forum and I have conversed with him directly. That's where I learned the fiberglass on pinholes technique...
  20. @SteveJ Sorry for the thread jack, I'm done...
  21. This is pretty basic. Not rocket science, I don't normally get involved with your posts any more because you don't take the advise given. 5' of fuel hose and one tee and 6 hose clamps. Cut it up to fit, pretty basic....

@SteveJ I hate it that you're not having a good time there... Wish I could have made it down but working 6 days a week right now...
  23. Yes! Rubber hoses! This is a process of elimination. Try some rubber hoses and bypass the metal fuel rail. If it helps come up with a more elegant permanent solution later! Solve the problem first, then make it pretty...
  24. When you say the numbers don't match, what do you mean? The engine number should match the data plate under the hood that has the engine number on it, not the VIN number....
  25. Love it. Nothing like the smell of leather interior...
