Clutch Issues
Its a little late now but I never get rid of old parts until I am sure the new parts fixed it. Even if they lay around for a couple of weeks. Sounds like you may need to scrounge up or fabricate a longer rod... Charles

A Question For The Engine Gurus
Some of the other guys may have a more experienced opinion. I always have the rotating assembly balanced in the motors I build L6, V8 whatever. For the added costs compared to the total rebuild cost I do it. I don't have to pay someone for assembly so I come out ahead overall. A balanced motor should have less vibration and theortically rev smoother and potentially higher depending on the valvetrain. The last time I paid for balancing it was $300 or so... C

Different Plating / Coatings On Fasteners
Yes Steve contributes fairly regularly. He just posted yesterday in the "What did you do today" thread. Fresh hardware is not cheap. I don't know if it is cheaper to order new or get replated Norm who's website escapes me I believe has almost all of it available...

A Question For The Engine Gurus
Since the pistons are numbered I would assume the rotating mass was balanced so keeping them in the same hole maintains that balance. If you move some or replace some I would want to have the rotating assembly rebalanced. then there is nothing to worry about... C

1973 Datsun 240K (C110) Hardtop Group C Race Car
Thanks Chas, I thought they were the same, but the picture threw me off. I was thinking that would be really hard to drive if the pedals were different... Charles

Z 432 At Rm Auction Amelia Island
Matisse doesn't do much for me, butt I'm not a tennis fan either. However I would rather have Diseazd's car collection and would still have money in the bank. I want a car I can drive and I would feel bad putting miles on a truly rare car. Not to mention the insurance and the potential for an accident... C

1973 Datsun 240K (C110) Hardtop Group C Race Car
As an aside, If I am looking at the pedals right, the fuel is on the far left and the clutch is on the far right. Is that how all RH drive cars are? Charles

Vacuum Control Valve Plating
Plated how? If you want it to look better just buff it. It was unlikely it was ever plated if it is aluminum... Charles

Once the heat shield is polished is there a way to keep them from reoxidizing? I would think clear coats would yellow or cook... Charles

Looking For Inner Fender Sheet Metal For A 240Z
Is the area in the picture the problem? Is the problem aesthetic as it appears? It doesn't seem to be rusty. Most people that have a car with a really clean frame rails are driving them. Most cars that are available to cut are already heavily rusted in this area... Charles

Rear Engine Plate Difference.
Also I would think you would want to add the hose mount to the frame of the car. I had to add it on my car. It holds the connection from the hard line to the flex hose on the frame side of the car, below the battery on the inside of the frame rail. C

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
I used the Eastwood internal frame coating on the Z I have on the rotisserie. It is a thin green material that runs very easily. It also dries very fast. I sprayed it into every area I could think of and rotated the car around to get gravity to help coat everything well. I bought several cans but sometimes things wait a long time before I get to them. Two cans sat for about a year on the shelf, when I went to use them they acted dead and I couldn't get them to work. Eastwood wouldn't do anything for me. I think 30 days is there limit. So if you buy some, use it, don't let it sit. Also I have an undercoater gun I bought from them and some bulk internal frame coating in a quart. That was a waste of money. The air running through the gun dries the material in the nozzle!!! I even tried thinning it and never could make that setup work. A total waste of money. The undercoater gun works ok because I used it to apply Lizard Skin in the interior. The aerosol cans work good and with the long hoses you can reach most areas. I did in the structure of the hood, especially the nose, the rockers and doglegs, up over the wheels arches, the structure sections under the rear floor and the frame rails out front and under the floor... Yutaka Katayama, 'father Of The Z' Nissan Sports Car, Dies At 105
Alan, I wasn't trying to suggest he designed the car. I was thinking more along the lines that he would have had some input into the products that were created and what they would look like... I may be wrong. Charles
