Houston to ZCON drive up group?
Lessons learned in Memphis! You guys are really going to spoil us.

New Z Owner from MN
Welcome to the forum. That's a great looking car - especially for a low VIN. Very nice original features on the interior with the wheel, console, ashtray cover, throttle, ...etc. Everyone here is always ready to be a sounding board for questions and ideas - you get what you pay for. Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. No shortage of technical expertise here either. Looking forward to your participation. Who knows - the next ZCON may be much closer to you.

Houston to ZCON drive up group?
That would seem to call for an early departure with the sun at your back. Safe travels!

Removing emissions clutter for cleaner look?
The part mounted below the coil and ballast resistor is called a flow guide valve - no vacuum associated with it. It routes some vapors from the crankcase (the tiny tube on the PCV vent pipe) and vapors from the fuel tank to the back of the air cleaner so they can be pulled into the combustion process. The only "vacuum" that might be present would be the airflow being pulled into the carbs.

FS: Restored Inspection Light
@texis30O My 90-day estimate on paint stretched to 9 months. After the car was completely put together, some follow-up paint issues developed - that was another 6-month visit (all warranty and well done). PM sent with my contact info. Z'ya in Austin!

@texis30O I'm getting all my plating done at Texas Precision Plating in nearby Garland http://texasprecision.net/ Great folks and consistently good results - the better your prep, the better their outcome. I like the way you say that the Houston area is just south of the Dallas area. Will you be at ZCON? If so, we need to meet.

ZCON Austin roll call
Vicky and I will not be doing the post-car show buffet Wednesday - she probably won't even go to the show. Dinner with good friends would be great that evening or another.

ZCON Austin roll call
Interesting idea. I already have a tub full of R&R (Rescue & Refurbish) parts to offer for sale at the People's Choice show, may have to toss in some of the other bits not refurb'd. A post on the ZCON Facebook page says there will be a bulletin board available for folks to post items for sale, I've got a two-page list in work. PM sent. Off topic - Parade Laps brake pre-check, lots of lining and no leaks:

New wiper blades?
Chris, The early style blade frames with the twin parallel bars are usually available on eBay if you want to pay the price. I think generic frames will fit the OE wiper arm - your local auto supply can probably confirm. The length of both blades is 18".

ZCON Austin roll call
We'll be down on Monday the 19th with the Z Club of Texas caravan, staying at the host hotel for the entire week. Looking forward to a grand reunion with the Memphis crowd and new meetings with fellow CZCC members.

sweatys rebuild
FWIW - The replacements I purchased several years ago from BD were angle-cut to butt against but not overlap onto the window frame.

Added to my Garage this weekend!
Be sure to get the correct protective clothing for your new mid-life adventure - something like this comes to mind:
-
Gas cap change?
-
Wires by the key (ignition)
Probably the warning buzzer for the key left in the ignition - irritating little rascal but I keep mine connected for authenticity.
-
Gas cap change?
I have the top left one and it has always been chained.

FS: Restored Inspection Light
More grist for the mill: the online catalog shows the P/N as 26740-89904, effective for all S30's and no preceding or superseding versions. A friend has a NOS unit with a P/N 26740-10W00. A bit of searching came up with this P/N superseding 26740-89901 & 26740-89904. I used my OE light and what I have found on parts cars to form the idea that this was an "early version" of the light. The posts by @7tooZ and @Terrapin Z suggest another answer: Niles was producing two styles of the light concurrently and Nissan was mixing them in the parts flow with a common P/N. With no functional difference, multiple P/N's would have no meaning. At some point Niles dropped the 12V 8W stamp, eliminated the open foot version, and later dropped the stamped codes on the mounting foot. I've updated my original post to remove the "early version" comment. Thanks for all the comments.
