  1. Coil. 12 volts to the plugs won't even make a spark. And with current flowing it won't be 12 volts. Just saying... I think he already realized his error though. Slow day.
  2. They look early. 1/70 to 4/70 build dates, probably. http://www.zhome.com/IZCC/ZRegisters/classic.htm
  3. Are you sure? Describe the problem and you'll get a multitude of possible causes and fixes for it.
  4. There's this one also. Correct threads too, I assume. How'd you get off to Fiero land? https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1978,280z,2.8l+l6,1209260,engine,oil+level+sensor,5700
  5. Good luck. It almost makes it more disappointing. 1302 and 2909 both rusted and beat up. I used to have a 55 Chevy pickup with the flappy fenders that 1302 has. Used sheet metal screws to try and hold them on. Got pulled over by the State Patrol once for having parts extending outside the normal body width of the vehicle. 2909 looks half decent. Too bad some kids used the roof as a trampoline.
  6. What are your plans for the car? Why do you want one? Some people are looking for a good deal, some want the coolest car, some want the nostalgia and will drive it. That's where value is determined. If you're buying it as an investment, it seems overpriced. The oddness of the ad copy has already been mentioned. The car does not have a rich history, it actually has a somewhat bland history. Almost no history. There's no real story to it expect that the guy wants a lot of money for it. "This particular 240z has a rich history as well as a showroom new look with less then 49,000 original miles. It is completely original and unmolested. That means this car has stayed in showroom new condition for 47 years! Meaning, it is a special part of Datsun history. "
  7. I meant the lizzy part. I looked back and found your other reference to "3 pumps to make one lizzy". Haven't seen the word lizzy used for anything before. Don't know what a lizzy is. Maybe I'm just blanking on it. No biggy. Carry on.
  8. What is a Nos lizzy? Sounds kind of nasty...
  9. No I don't have that, but I don't have the manual vents inside either. For some reason cars with AC run all the fresh air through the blower system. Very disappointing, it would be nice to have a simple manual fresh air source, besides the windows. I've tried to figure out how I could transplant one over but haven't found a car to pull from. My snorkel just pulls from the right front corner of the engine bay. But I've disconnected it at the other end, like site did, just to get some intake honk. That entrance hole seems so small, and the flow path tortuous. I can feel that extra 1/10 HP...
  10. It is in there, isn't it? A lot of other possibilities also. I found a picture in the 1972 FSM GI chapter that might show another original concept. Much snubbier butt, and stubbier front. (Humor...).
  11. I see it now. Looks like it was made to be spliced together to make a six pack. I forgot that heater hose used to come in red. I'm using heater hose for my valve cover PCV port. Living dangerous with no flame arrester.
  12. My 76 Federal has a snorkel. 1/76 build date.
  13. I think that those convertible conversion kits have a brand name. Can't remember who made them. They show up occasionally.
  14. I thought that the harness on the top came directly from the Passat. That's what my comment was about. Looks like a straight swap, six in one shot. p.s. what is that red piece of garden hose doing connected to your AAR? Holy moley...
  15. I don't think that you can assume what the engineers were assuming. You'd assume that engineers would have assumed the same with carbs and ran a snorkel out of the engine bay if they thought it would help. Might be that it's just for lower intake noise.
  16. More humor. Because we like to have fun here. Explanation shouldn't be necessary.
  17. Your picture showed an old harness still connected. I didn't know that you had already mimiced the factory harness. My mistake.
  18. I don't think that your statement about how Nissan intended the car to be a convertible is true. Do you have any sort of reference for that statement? That muffler tip is huge.
  19. Get the VIN for the two 70's. It's on the dash panel in front of the driver, or the driver's door jamb, or the plate on the passenger side in the engine bay. That's where the value will be for those two.
  20. Just thought this was odd. Looks like a decent car though. https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/d/1981-datsun-280z/6584086240.html
  21. I recorded all of the Zeppelin albums on to red Radio Shack 8 track tapes.
  22. I always wanted a Sunbeam Tiger. Somehow I ended up in Z world instead....
  23. Never mind. Petroleum is the best carbon trap.
  24. Apparently, the LA basin has been prone to bad air since the native americans owned it. It's a big bowl full of dead air.
  25. Actually, it's been well documented that diesel fumes are carcinogenic. Health-wise, diesel engines should be outlawed. I'm sure that there will be lawsuits eventually. But, money is being made so we'll all just suck up those cancer particles in the meantime. Pretty fascinating to think about. Enough money involved and everyone pays with a little bit of cancer. Societal cancer. https://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancer-causes/diesel-exhaust-and-cancer.html
