  1. Your voltage numbers are way off, for starters. Could be that there is a drain somewhere. Start with a fully charged battery, over 12.6 volts with nothing connected, and see if voltage drops when you connect the cables. 11.3 volts shouldn't even crank the engine. Something is wrong.   2. Which site would get more money to the seller? Don't know what BaT charges. No reserve is a crock. Just guarantees the auction house a commission.
  3. Describe the actual problem and somebody can probably get you on the right path. CO has a 78, I think, and he knows some specific 78 stuff. He loves looking at those relay diagrams and will explain the fuel pump control scheme in great detail. And SteveJ and others just generally know Z electrics. But you gotta give some clues.

  5. 150 with the adapter is not bad. You'll get higher pressure the shorter the tube to the gauge is.
  6. Can you post the seller info, or is it a one time eBay thing? Looks like about $72 US. Even with shipping it's probably a good deal for a straight replacement part. Is it NOS, or used?

  8. On a whim I tried their chat function. They said 2-4 weeks. Don't know if it's real but they didn't say next week. You can't "Watch" it unless you're a member.
  9. You probably won't get your money back on the cost for those small fixes. Those are the kind of things people overlook when buying. People buy the bigger picture. If it has a good smog sticker, sell it now.
  10. Has it been pinned? I haven't followed all of the details. Lots of slop in the factory mounting system. Do you have a borescope? It would be cool to see the path of the runners in to the head. Probably help alignment also.
  11. You might try stretching an o-ring over the existing roller. It won't need gluing and you'll get the advantage of the lubricity of the material. O-rings are interesting things. They're actually designed to take the place of seal "packing", as I understand things, and are supposed to be fit to a precisely machined cavity.   12. Time will tell. The bushings do take some abuse, both physical and temperature extremes. Rubber is hard to get a good bond to, especially if it has processing/plasticizing oils added. The stuff that "sweats" out and makes it feel slippery. Hate to be a downer, love a new idea, but I wouldn't rush out and try this until some time and use has happened.
  13. I get a high-pitched whistle from the transmission at high RPM when I'm banging the gears. It sounds like some sort of extra boost, but it's probably just something wearing out.

  16. My old original 76 tach would stop working, it would only go so high if I remember right, after a drive on hot days, then come back when it cooled off. Consider heat. It seemed like something binding.
  17. $44,000 and it's a 2+2 with automatic. But barely driven and all original. What would a person do with it though? Why do people keep saying "Fairlady"? Doesn't really add anything, except a vague memory reference to a popular movie. "This 1976 Datsun "Fairlady" 280Z 2+2 hatchback has 1,358 original miles (mileage not indicated on the registration).   18. The Nissan fuel pump control relay is an odd one, with two solenoid switches in it. The 5 pin that you showed won't work directly as a replacement, since it only has one solenoid. If your relays are still installed on the car you might try unplugging your oil pressure switch and turning the key On. The fuel pump might run then if the oil pressure switch side of the the relay is intact. The pump will lose power when you turn the key off, so it will only be dangerous in a car accident. Might get you by. It seems odd that both relays would be bad, unless the car has been under water. Any chance that you wrote down the results of your tests? There might be a simple short term solution based on test results. The fuel pump relay itself is a common 4 pin relay, easy to replace.
  19. Relays just need straight forward logic. They can be tedious though, for sure. Guessing is bad where electricity is concerned. You didn't say if you confirmed that either of the two relays were bad even though you copied from the test section, so it looks like you've made your decision. Wire up the new relays and run the tests. If they pass you guessed correctly. Good luck.
  20. What did you base your guesses on? The wiring diagram is in the Engine Fuel chapter of the FSM. There are also test procedures for the relays. Might be that yours aren't really bad. Don't need the traction and the handling will be messed up.
