Hood swap???
in regards to the hoods, swap away. 1970-78 will all fit. as for the small block chevy why not just leave it stock and build what you have :classic:

Monster Garage - Zcar Style
now that would be interesting for sure. Just to see sealed floors in this thing would be a major accomplishment

Monster Garage - Zcar Style
I own one of the worst rusted Z's I have ever seen in my 12 years with these cars. They could try and weld it back together to a solid shell and then make a sweet original 78 280 out of it again

2many, yeah he did bring it up on that trailer. I have to say I am scared to buy a trailer. then there is no telling how many I would towing home. Is your 76 parts car the one you have stowed in the woods perhaps you may have a clean set of 76 bumpers?

Size of stock rear speakers?
MSA makes a speaker box that replaces your existing rear interior trim panel in front of the taillights. The box hold two 6x9's and it tucks away very nice and out of sight almost. Just an option. I do rememeber the original speakers and 5.25 is correct. My 74 only came with one speaker in the back

Got to meet a boardie this weekend!
Well I finally got to meet someone from the board in person! Phi22b@ck came up to my house in jersey from maryland on frioday to bring a wonderful present! As many of you may have read in some of my older posts one of my cars has been diagnosed with cancer really bad. I mean really really bad. This is one of the worst structurally rusted Z cars I have ever seen to date. The Rad support is swiss cheese. Floors non existant. Passenger side firewall along with the battery tray and inner fender well, a long lost memory. Seabelt supports underneath, good bye. Even the trans tunnel is soft where the e-brake handle mounts. Its a shame too cause the car is really sharp otherwise. So I made the decision to let this 78 go on to heaven. phi22b@ck had a 76 parts car that is extremely solid. Original solid floors and the only rust on the car is in the battery tray, drivers side rear lower corner, the doglegs, and the inside of the headlight bezel support. the pics are pending approval in my galler. Soooo, everything from the cancer patient is being transferred over to its new home! phi22b@ck is a really great person and cool dude to hang with. we spent about 11 hours getting the rest of the bits off the car he wanted and dug through my parts bins for some stuff for the race car which I was glad to make a donation to. Thanks again phi22b@ck!!!!!!!!!1

Another one for the obnoxious file
what a disgrace. I can;t understand why they just don't go buy the car they are trying to emulate. this arse clown spent 3500 on the fiberglass kit. He could have had a vette for that and left this for the Z guys. :devious: that pic of the glass kit next to the original car is hearbreaking. that car was beautiful!

A Warning To All Zcar.com Users
I second Escanlon's advice. I think we could work him over. He's probably the guy who owns a first gen car with the acclaimed "RARE" five speed. To quote bambi....what a putz

original 240Z for sale
Def keep us informed of what this thing goes for. While I am not going to get involved in the 4 page debate on the value of this one, I am curious to see how much it goes for. Good luck on the sale

Rust question
I agree with escanlon. Looking at the picture as i am typing that whole section needs to be replaced. The inner fender well and frame rail both tie into the toeboard and essentially the firewall. The seam where that all ties together is gone and I can imagine how soft that whole area is. Since the cancer has gotten as bad as it is, I'm sure once you get undereath the undercoating you'll see just how far the rust has spread. If you have welding experience this isn't that bad as far as repairs go, honestly more time than anything to fabricate new metal and not just patch panels. however if you are looking to have someone do it, I know that Auto Rust doctors here in jersey (same shop Wick Humble had his car done) charges about 1500 to do the floors and frame rails with a 5 year warranty. This place specializes in gluing these things back together and I imagine would be much faster and more precise than just any old shop.
