  1. G-Rob, I say snatch em up! I'm a big fan of these wheels myself. I've seen them with a nice poliching job a they are sharp! As far as pricing them I don't have a lot of experience with them but I would think about 200-250 would be fair if they are indeed in good shape with no bends knicks gouges or rash. I figure for a stock wheel about $50-$75 a wheel is about right. Even on the zx's I don't see a lot of these wheels around in SC, so I say pick them up! My two cents Nate

Howdy! There is a chance that I will be in Norther California in Late Jan. possibly until March. Somewhere between 12 and 52 days. There is a Coast Guard Traing Center in Petaluma, near the Santa Rosa area. My transportation will be limited, but I maybe renting a car every so often, of course if they let me take my truck I'll do that instead (this is unlikely). Basically I just wanted to see who is in the area and if they know of any events going on during that time frame. You could look at this way, If you need another set of hands while working on your Z, I'm free labor! Nate

  6. Hey meakin... K's choice isn't all that well known over here but I'm on the same page as you! ...You debate on buying groceries just so you can have more money in the "Z account". Nate "I'm not an addict, maybe that's a lie..."
  7. I picked up the 510 last week but did not see the 350. My 510 is blue but there was another color...purple I think... might have been gold don't recall. we should start a list of all the collectable Datsun and or Nissan toys out there. 8. You're hearing it now buddy! Logically one would think if anything was loose you'd hear it when ever on bumps or in motion. Sounds like detonation to me. You could try a quality octane booster but I'd fill up with 91 or better when you get a chance. Just don't beat on it untill you get that taken care of. Nate:cross-eye
  9. Hey Jeff, The '78 came stock with the L28 and if I am correct the 5spd was available but not common... most of the 5spds are conversions using ZX trannies. Further more the rearend, if it was a M/T to start off with, should be an R200... the A/T came with the R180's. I'm just a rookie at this so if I'm wrong someone please set me straight. Oh Jeff, by the way, the 78 should have had Fuel Injection stock also. Does yours have carbs? A good site for Technical reads is www.zhome.com ... they have a lot of answers for production numbers, options(240Z), and stock specs. Nate :cross-eye
  10. See there was a lesson to be learned Punk@$$ honda girls i mean boys are afraid of the Z's! Way to loud him out man:tapemouth Nate:cross-eye
  11. hey 2many... I'm just 2picky is all. I've got to have a 4spd 240. If I wanted a zx there all over, on my 10 mile drive to work I pass 2 280zx's forsale within 3 miles of each other. This 240 looks like some buffalo ride with the rot on the floor boards:dead: but all the other stuff seems good and to tell you the truth I think I like the cream interior after seeing this car. Do me a favor and keep an eye out there in VA if you would... The longer I wait the more I'll be able to pay. If I wait long enough I'll end up going out west to pick one up. Nate:cross-eye
  12. Hey jeff, Yeah that would be cool. Motor is not that big of a deal... tranny driveshaft and rear end would be though. I really kind of have my heart set on a 240 but would consider a 260 if the price is right. It would also have to be a M/T 4 or 5 spd conversion is fine. Do let me know what you find out. I am on a time constraint though... I leave Monday for 3 1/2 months If I don't have one before I leave I'll pick the search up again in January. Thanks, Nate:cross-eye
  13. You gotta be kidding me! You are a lucky lucky man. Well, I'm happy for you. Is it stolenROFL I'd love to dee it sometime. You know there used to be a low country Z club. Maybe it should be revived. Now if only I can find a Z.... Nate.
  14. Well here it is, basically a continuation to the last post. This 73 has seen better days. Here is a list of what I found. No one seems to like the 73 carbs and neither did a PO... It now has dual webers... not a bad thing. It has some old-school A/C system... definately period correct... I could sell that... also not a bad thing Manufacture date: 01/73 Chassis #: HLS30-141126 Blue w/Cream Interior 4spd Still has all 4 original Z hubcaps. Passenger floorpan is T O A S T! That frame rail under... yeah. Driverside is following. Front Fenders behind wheels are rust through. "fender extensions" forward of the fenders are bubbly. Front bumber may have taken a light bumping but no body damage. Rocker panels might be savable. Quarterpanels in front of wheels are rot through. Hatch one spot a 1 inch hole at the bottom left of the Hatch glass, which would explain the standing water in the spare tire well. Bottoms of doors... not good. left side mirror missing More good stuff. Still has origianal steering wheel, all the glass is in good shape. Oh lord fellas... what do I do? Most get bit by the Z bug, But I'm being hunted down by the Z Lion and I'm having problems out running him. If he's asking $750 and he bites at $350 should I tow it home? I mean, at minimum who doesn't need a parts car? one other thing... what is the pan that the floor pans meet in the rear, just ahead of the rearend? can that be bought? Nate
  15. Dude ya beat me!!! Congragulations Jeff. Is this the '78 that was in the Auto Trader? Well, believe it or not I spent an hour and a half combing over that '73 on James Island. As stupid as it sounds I'm still giving it some thought!:stupid: Just one more 240 saved from the Yard. I can tell it was repainted at some point in time (10-15 years ago) but I can't find any dings in the sheetmetal. Of course it does have its fair share of cancer:disappoin . The kicker to the whole thing is that it has all the original parts still there. The only thing I didn't see was the inside cover for the taillights. Nate:cross-eye
  16. Ed.. to answer you're question... I have no clue since I haven't seen the picture... sorry:classic: Sblake01... The hooks you're referring to (might be the same as Ed, IDK?) They are on most if not all uni-body cars (like the Z). These are used for tie downs when the car is on a truck or boat for shipping. Since the cars do not have frames they need some place to secure the car and wrapping a chain around suspension parts just isn't an option. If you notice a car hauler you will see what I'm talking about... they wrench the chains down tight to compress the suspension so that the car doesn't bounce every time the truck hits a bump. 18. Brother... I wouldn't do it. Maybe if he doesn't have the Vtec you might (and thats a big MIGHT) hang with him. He's the moron running around sayin he's got thousands of dollars tyed up in a girls car. Important things to remember: He's an Idiot, you're well on your way to becoming a coniseur You're car is about 500 lbs heavier A/T doesn't help...may not hinder, but doesn't help. A lot of these honda parts do kill the low end... a place where Hondas don't do particularly well any way. The Z is 25 years old. Of course If you're looking to rebuild the engine you could strap a 100 shot of Nitrous on to speed up the process. Hey man... it's just high school... plus he's probably never even seen a T-66... Hell, I don't think I have. "We've all been there but sometimes it's best to find out on your own."-----Nate:cross-eye
  19. Man, It just ain't right!!! I was out that way today but didn't stop ... didn't want to upset anybody. I drove by though and I tell you, from the street she didn't look bad... guess I should have got out and taken a look. I got a little excited seeing that it was pretty much all stock... hubcaps and all. I'll probably still go by tomorrow and get a little dirty... could be a good parts car??? Maybe we'll have to take a trip out west and pick a couple up :cheeky: Nate
  20. That's not what I wanted to hear at all jeff.:stupid: So do tell... What kind of Z does 750 get ya on James Island. He mentioned something about the passenger side floorpan... not to downplay floorplan replacement by any means but they are available and within my ability to take on, IMO. Please don't say frame rails or even major rust in the rockers... please don't. Let me know if ya get a chance... Thanks Jeff. Nate:cross-eye
  21. 1B6, I don't know if it's the same one but I own a copy of the History Channel: Z, episode... wife got it for me last christmas. It's pretty good, a little cheesy but worth having for any Z efficianado. you can get it here http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=40124&browseCategoryId=&location=&parentcatid=&subcatid= Nate
  22. Hey Fellas, Thanks a lot for the info. If I can land a Z in the next year or so I would seriously be stoked, but my current duty station is on board a ship that does about 3 months underway and 2 months in port... for the next 3 years!!! Storage is not a problem, and as badly as I want a Z, I don't expect to drive it more than it's trip home untill she is completed. Over the past few years I've collected a bunch of info including the How To Restore Your Z book so I feel pretty good about my ability to survey the rust damage, that is untill I see that long elegant hood sloping down ever so gently into those set back headlight buckets:love:. I've got some pretty serious plans so in the next 5 to 6 years she would be torn down and in boxes than actually put together. I'll let you all know how it turns out... hey theres always Arizona. Well thanks alot, I love you guys Nate:cross-eye
  23. YEAHHH!!! Found a 73 240 for sale in the area. Gotta go take a look at it. The fella said there is some rust...booooo. Could be fixable if it isn't too bad. He's only asking $750 for it but after talking to him on the phone he doesn't seem to be a Z enthusiast. He got the car form his father-in-law in 99' and hasn't done a whole lot to it due to time and money(he's got 5 kids:o ). He did say that most of the rust is on the passenger floor board. So what's it take to replace floor pans on a Z? Wheres the best place to buy new ones and whats a typical welder charge to pop them in? I'll be honest I wasn't really looking for a 73 but i got to thinking about the type of work I want to do, triple carbs...5 spd...twice pipes...panasports...spook...Orange regardless of original color, I don't really need to find a 70-71 to do that as long as it is a 240 thats all that matters. Anyways, any info/ words of wisdom would be great to hear. Thanks Nate:cross-eye
  24. Dude... The funniest part is all the "fan mail" at the bottom. Some guys are rolling with it, But the ones I love are the guys who are are taking it serious!!! They're all ticked off about it and calling him names. My favorite thing he did was taking the back doors off...Classic! Thanks, Nate
